Abstract:
A method of processing video information which includes receiving encoded video information including an encoded base layer frame and encoded enhanced layer frames for providing temporal scalability, decoding the encoded video information in display order, and using a decoded first enhanced layer frame as a reference frame for decoding a second enhanced layer frame for forward prediction. Processing the video information in display order and using a decoded enhanced layer frame as a reference frame for processing another enhanced layer frame for forward prediction reduces coding latency for achieving temporal scalability for low delay scalable video coding. The coding memory space may also be reduced as compared to bidirectional prediction coding since the number of reference frames used for coding may be reduced.

A method of performing motion search for video including providing at least one motion search offset range for multiple search range scale levels and resolution levels, monitoring at least one operating metric, selecting a search range scale level, and performing motion search for selected resolution levels using search windows determined by the offset ranges at the selected search range scale level. A video encoder including a memory for storing motion search offset ranges for multiple resolution levels and multiple levels of a search range scale, and control logic for controlling motion estimation. Abstract:
A motion stabilization system including a filter bank and motion stabilization logic. The filter bank receives a video signal and provides at least one high frequency sub-band signal which includes edge information of the video signal. The motion stabilization logic receives the high frequency sub-band signal, a reference image, and the video signal and provides a stabilized image. The reference image is generated from image stabilization information developed during motion processing. The motion stabilization system may include an edge detector which receives and binarizes the high frequency sub-band signal. Binarization significantly reduces the amount of information to be processes by the motion stabilization logic. The motion stabilization system may further include a tile buffer which stores a portion of the video signal and which provides a video signal portion to the filter bank. The filter bank may be implemented as a discrete wavelet transformation filter.

A localized content adaptive filter system including a tile buffer having an output providing first image information, a frequency analyzer providing a frequency information signal based on frequency content of the first image information, and an adaptive filter which is adjusted based on the frequency information signal. The frequency analyzer may include a wavelet transform filter and a frequency content analyzer. The adaptive filter may include filter select logic which receives the frequency information signal and second image information associated with the first image information, and which provides filtered image information. The filter select logic determines a filter based on the frequency information signal and the determined filter filters the second image information to provide the filtered image information. The filter select logic may include preconfigured filters in which a filter is selected by the frequency information, or a programmable filter which is programmed according to the frequency information.

Abstract:
In a circuit arrangement for providing a current having a controllable temperature coefficient of current, a diffused resistor (334) is used to set up a reference current in a current source (40) which has a temperature coefficient dependent upon the diffused resistor. A current mirror (352, 354, 356) receives the reference current and passes a portion of it through an ion implanted resistor (360). The output current has a temperature coefficient which is a function of the original temperature coefficient of current and a nonzero algebraic multiple of the temperature coefficient of the implanted resistor. By appropriate selection of the resistor values and types, the temperature coefficient of the output current can be set to any desired value.

Abstract:
An inductorless quadrature demodulator for frequency modulated signals is disclosed. A limited FM signal is passed through an active filter (26) and a phase shift network (30) to produce a quadrature signal. The limited FM signal is compared with the quadrature signal in an EXCLUSIVE OR gate (24) and then low pass filtered (36) to obtain recovered audio. The active filter (26) includes a transconductance amplifier (60) whose center frequency can be adjusted by appropriate adjustment of the amplifier's bias current. The bias current is temperature compensated to allow operation of the demodulator over a wide temperature range.
