Compositions With Low Coefficients Of Friction And Methods For Their Preparation

US Patent:
2005019, Sep 1, 2005
Filed:
Apr 5, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/099270
Inventors:
Robert Gunn - New York NY, US
International Classification:
C04B035/64, B32B007/02
US Classification:
428212000, 264667000
Abstract:
The present invention relates to products that would benefit from durable low friction surfaces which are abrasion, puncture and cut resistant and demonstrate, either in performance and/or laboratory tests, significant improvements in these properties when compared to surfaces coated with low friction materials via traditional methods. Traditionally coated materials would not be able to achieve similar gauge, 1/128 to ½ inch or more, with the same combination of durability, abrasion, puncture or cut resistance as with this invention. Products that could benefit from this invention include, but are not limited to boat hulls, skies, snow boards, snow mobiles, jet skies, conveyor systems, airplane exteriors, surfaces of torpedoes, bullets, missiles and similar armaments. Cars, heavy equipment, machine parts, submarines, treadmills for glides for furniture and equipment, dental tools and appliances, medical implants, internal combustion engines, turbines and all surfaces which require lubrication.

2003003, Feb 27, 2003
Filed:
Aug 22, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/935305
Inventors:
Robert Gunn - New York NY, US
International Classification:
D02G003/00
US Classification:
428/375000
Abstract:
The invention relates to fibers having a low coefficient of friction formed from a combination of at least two or more materials, such as a base polymer, such as polyethylene, and ultra-high molecular weight silicone, wherein one of the materials has a low coefficient of friction

Low Friction Outer Apparel

US Patent:
6061829, May 16, 2000
Filed:
Nov 12, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/968008
Inventors:
Robert T. Gunn - New York NY
International Classification:
A41B 100
US Classification:
2 69
Abstract:
The present invention relates to apparel, such as clothing, footwear, fabrics, and the like, which incorporates fabrics or chemicals having a low coefficient of friction either overall or in specific areas of the apparel that will minimize the development of blisters, callouses, and irritation of the skin. The present invention also relates to apparel which incorporates fabrics or chemicals having a low coefficient of friction either overall or in specific areas of the outer surface of the apparel that will minimize frictional contact with external objects. The invention also includes methods for producing this low friction apparel and apparel with a low friction outer surface.

Low Coefficient Of Friction Fibers

US Patent:
6143368, Nov 7, 2000
Filed:
Feb 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/021325
Inventors:
Robert T. Gunn - New York NY
International Classification:
B05D 136, B05D 312
US Classification:
4274071
Abstract:
A fiber having a surface with a relatively low coefficient of friction portion and a relatively high coefficient of friction portion. The fiber may be produced by slitting a film/sheet which has been coextruded, laminated and/or coated, or by partially coating a base fiber. Fabrics made from such fibers exhibit increased structural integrity.
