Staff Sergeant Michael B. Madsen distinguished himself by meritorious service as Combat Correspondent, 151st Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs, Utah Air National Guard from 5 February 2010 to 10 April 2012. During this period, Sergeant Madsen’s exceptional efforts contributed to the Public Affairs Office’s “Outstanding” rating during the 2011 Air Mobility Command’s Compliance Inspection. Sergeant Madsen’s dedication and technical expertise resulted in 15+ video
productions that showcased the wing’s mission and people. Working around the clock, Sergeant Madsen helped produce two feature-length videos for the 2010 and 2011 Utah National Guard Freedom Academies, which were shown to 100+ high school student participants. Additionally, he shot and edited video productions for the wing highlighting Governor’s Day 2010 and 2011, Utah Latino Day, Winter Wingman Day, 19th Special Forces return, four change of commands, to
name a few. He spearheaded the Utah Air National Guard’s video presence on social media sites such as Facebook and YouTube, enabling the public to view the wing’s accomplishments. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Madsen while serving his country reflect credit upon himself, the Air National Guard, and the United States Air Force.

Senior Airman Michael B, Madsen distinguished himself by outstanding achievement while assigned tot he 151 Air Refueling Wing, Cargo Deployment Function. As an outstanding member of the Cargo Deployment Function team, Sergeant Madsen's meticulous attention to detail, cheerful cooperative approach to all problems and tasks drew favorable comments from Commanders, Inspectors, and co-workers. His tact, professional knowledge and sound judgement, combined with this ability to work without supervision and his willingness to work beyond duty hours, contributed directly to the successful deployment of 316 personnel and over 90 short tons of cargo. Airman Madsen ensured that all hazardous cargo was correctly prepared, identified, and documented prior to aircraft loading. He further ensured that all pallets and mobility bins were properly tied down and correctly configured for air transportation. The distinctive accomplishments of Airman Madsen reflect credit upon himself, the Air National Guard, and the United States Air Force.
