Endoscopic Pulley Knife Instrument For Transecting Ligaments Or Fascia

US Patent:
2007022, Sep 27, 2007
Filed:
Feb 22, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/677650
Inventors:
Loubert Suddaby - Orchard Park NY, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/32
US Classification:
606170000
Abstract:
An instrument adapted to be placed over the tip of an endoscope has a rearward-facing blade which can be deployed by manipulating an actuator. The actuator is connected to the blade by a flexible tensile member like a cable or wire, which enables one to make and use curved or bendable versions of the instrument. Once the blade is deployed, tissues may be cut by drawing the instrument past the tissues.

Expandable Orthopedic Drill For Vertebral Interbody Fusion Techniques

US Patent:
6224604, May 1, 2001
Filed:
Jul 30, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/365224
Inventors:
Loubert Suddaby - Orchard Park NY
International Classification:
A61B 1756
US Classification:
606 80
Abstract:
An expandable orthopedic drill includes a shaft provided with a handle at is proximal end. Several cutters are supported around the hub by a linkage which maintains the edges of the cutters at a predetermined angle to the axis of the tool. The cutters are driven outward from the shaft, expanding the effective size of the drill, by means of a sleeve. The sleeve is driven along the shaft by turning a nut engaged with threads on the shaft. Tapered holes may be produced by changing the lengths of the links.
