The present invention provides a system and method for conditioning the surface and subsurface of a tubular whereby stress risers and crevices are avoided during subsequent working of the tubular. In a preferred embodiment, the invention may be readily utilized to modify a continuous tubular manufacturing operation wherein a laser beam welder is utilized for welding the seam of the tubular as the tubular is moved with respect to the laser beam welder thereby producing an elongate bead. A TIG welder is provided downstream of the laser beam welder with respect to the direction of movement of the tubular to thereby remelt the crown portion of the elongate bead thereby causing the crown portion to flatten radially and spread out along the surface of the tubular. Because the forces produced by working the hard weld nugget are spread over a wider area, the conditioned weld may now be worked into the wall of the tubular utilizing standard working techniques without loss of tubular wall diameter or producing folded over portions that are more susceptible to metal fatigue.

A riser monitoring assembly is provided to monitor and manage a riser extending between subsea well equipment and a floating vessel. A riser measurement instrument module is connected adjacent a selected portion of the riser provides dynamic orientation data for the selected portion of the riser. A computer having a memory associated therewith and riser system analyzing management software stored thereon is in communication with the riser measurement module to process data received therefrom. The riser monitoring assembly can utilize real-time orientation data for the selected portion of the riser to analyze the riser dynamic behavior, to determine a model of the real-time structure of the riser, to determine and manage the existence of vortex induced vibration, to determine and manage riser stress levels, to manage riser inspection and riser maintenance, and to supplement determination and management of the position of the vessel.

A system, method, and software for optimizing the commingling of well fluids from a plurality of producing subsea wells. The mixing temperature and water content in each header of a collection manifold are calculated for each subsea well and header combinations, responsive to data from sensors at the collection manifold. Combinations with conditions outside operational limits are then discarded. Remaining combinations are ranked based on predetermined optimization criteria. The ranked combinations are provided for the operator for optimizing flow properties and well fluid production. The calculations can restart with new, real-time sensed values from the subsea collection manifold.
