Amalgam Dispensing Device

US Patent:
4139030, Feb 13, 1979
Filed:
Jan 17, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/759816
Inventors:
Manfred F. Schroeder - Point Pleasant Beach NJ
Joseph G. Biondo - Watchung NJ
Joseph Aliotta - Staten Island NY
Assignee:
Engelhard Minerals & Chemicals Corporation - Iselin NJ
International Classification:
B65B 130
US Classification:
141 98
Abstract:
A device for dispensing ingredients, such as the ingredients for a dental amalgam, has a handle portion and a head portion formed of mating parts with the handle angulated to the head and formed for convenient gripping by the user's hand. A slide mounted in the head slides laterally when pushed by the user's thumb to transport measured ingredients to a common aperture for delivery into a container. The container, when put in place, releases a latch that holds the slide normally in measuring position and prevents transport of the ingredients unless the container is in position to catch them. Adjustment of a measuring chamber for liquid mercury, to accurately proportion it, is by a valve having an end projecting, more or less, into a chamber, so as to vary the volume of the chamber. The position of the valve is controlled by a rectilinearly movable cam whose position may be fixed by a lock nut which normally is inaccessible in a recess in the head portion.

Dental Amalgams

US Patent:
3997330, Dec 14, 1976
Filed:
Dec 29, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/644871
Inventors:
Joseph Aliotta - Staten Island NY
Louis F. Alcuri - Brooklyn NY
Assignee:
Engelhard Minerals & Chemicals Corporation - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
C22C 700
US Classification:
75 5R
Abstract:
An improved dental composition comprises an admixture in specified proportions of two powdered alloys of specified composition, one in the form of spheres, the other in the form of irregularly-shaped particles such as flakes. When the admixture is amalgamated with mercury, a corrosion-resistant dental amalgam having enhanced mechanical properties and handling characteristics is produced.

Dental Composition

US Patent:
3997327, Dec 14, 1976
Filed:
Dec 29, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/644872
Inventors:
Albert Tolliver - Summit NJ
Joseph Aliotta - Staten Island NY
Louis F. Alcuri - Brooklyn NY
Assignee:
Engelhard Minerals & Chemicals Corporation - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
C22C 506
US Classification:
5R
Abstract:
A novel dental composition comprises an admixture of two forms of a powdered alloy in specified proportions, i. e. , a major proportion in the form of relatively smooth spheroidal particles, e. g. , spheres, and a minor proportion in the form of relatively rough, irregularly shaped particles, e. g. , flakes. The resulting dental composition requires less mercury for amalgamation and exhibits enhanced physical properties and handling characteristics.

Dental Composition

US Patent:
3997329, Dec 14, 1976
Filed:
Dec 29, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/644869
Inventors:
Joseph Aliotta - Staten Island NY
Louis F. Alcuri - Brooklyn NY
Assignee:
Engelhard Minerals & Chemicals Corporation - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
C22C 700
US Classification:
