Forming Integrated Roller From Core, Telescoping Sleeve And Filler Adhesive

US Patent:
4038731, Aug 2, 1977
Filed:
Jun 19, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/588384
Inventors:
Edward D. Hill - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
B21B 2700
US Classification:
29132
Abstract:
Molding apparatus for forming a roller, such as a printing roller, and the resulting product are disclosed in which such apparatus includes an elastomeric sleeve and a core, the sleeve telescopically receiving the core and defining therebetween a casting area to receive a settable adhesive. One of the sleeve and core has axially extending grooves on a side facing the other to facilitate substantially even distribution of the liquid adhesive between it and the other member, whereby upon receipt and setting of the adhesive, the sleeve, adhesive and core define an integrated roller of substantially uniformly distributed balance and weight. Preferably, the set adhesive has substantially the same density as the elastomeric sleeve. Optionally, two adhesives may be used, as concentric tubular coatings, one adhesive to coat the core and a second adhesive used in greater amount to coat the sleeve and fill the casting area. The two adhesives are chosen to effect a strong bond between the core and the sleeve, which are of different materials, and between each other such that a strong integrated bond is realized from sleeve-to-core.

Aug 28, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/297428
Inventors:
Edward D. Hill - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
A23N 503, A23N 508
US Classification:

Abstract:
A device for forcefully removing husks from coconuts provided with a pair of hingedly connected wedge blades adapted to be inserted into the coconut husk. One blade is stationary and the other blade has a handle to enable it to be rocked for prying the husk away from the seed. Two or more operations are required for removing the entire husk. The so-called stationary blade is fixed to a vertically movable cross bar, the ends of which slide on spaced rods forming part of a frame. The frame is intended to be mounted upright on a support, such as a post.
