Dr. McAllister holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, and a medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (now Des Moines University) in Des Moines. His post-graduate education included an internship and residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, a cardiology fellowship at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics in Columbia, and an interventional cardiology fellowship at Iowa Heart Center. Dr. McAllister is board certified in general and interventional cardiology, as well as vascular medicine. He specializes in coronary and peripheral vascular intervention. He currently practices at Iowa Heart Center's West University clinic in West Des Moines, and works in the catheterization laboratory at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines.
