Philosophy:
Dr. Margaret Verhey got her first taste of Iowa in junior high, when she lived in Spencer for three years while her father was employed by a company there.
Dr. Verhey, who holds a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, originally planned to design products for the healthcare industry. The more she studied, however, the more she became interested in the actual practice of medicine.
Dr. Verhey completed her medical training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and served at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, before completing a cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Verhey is board certified in cardiology, echocardigraphy and nuclear cardiology. She practices at Iowa Heart Center's West University clinic, and staffs the Chest Pain Center at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines.
