Philosophy:
My patients can expect first and foremost, a physician listening to understand how my patients’ symptoms are affecting their lives. Physical examination, review of records and studies such as chest x-rays and breathing tests lay the foundation for getting to the cause of these symptoms. Procedures that may be performed included bronchoscopy, thoracentesis or pleural biopsy. Interpretation of sleep studies and serving as the Critical Care Physician in the Intensive Care Unit are also in my purview. Solid training, ongoing education, and a breadth of experience acquired in the course of more than two decades of patient care allow insight into the relationship between symptoms and objective findings. I believe that charting a treatment plan requires education of the patient and family about the disease process and the rationale behind risk/benefit trade offs. Finally, we will craft a highly individualized treatment and follow up plan, and coordinate this with other health care providers.
