Apparatus, Processes, And Articles Of Manufacture For Fast Fourier Transformation And Beacon Searching

US Patent:
2009024, Oct 1, 2009
Filed:
Mar 20, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/408378
Inventors:
Hemanth Sampath - San Diego CA, US
Xin Zhang - San Diego CA, US
Jeremy H. Lin - San Diego CA, US
Nistha Sharma - Broomfield CO, US
Ravi Palanki - San Diego CA, US
Sunil K. Kandukuri Narayan - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04J 11/00, G06F 17/14
US Classification:
370210, 708404
Abstract:
In embodiments, a wireless receiver employs a hardware-based Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) engine controlled by firmware. The FFT engine executes tasks stored in a task list. Each task is associated with a different portion of a signal, for example, one or more Orthogonal Frequency Division Modulated (OFDM) symbols. Each task may include configuration information for the FFT engine for configuring the engine to process the associated portion of the signal, a pointer to the portion to be processed, and another pointer to the memory for storing the output. The task list may be firmware controlled. Division of the FFT into a configurable hardware part driven by firmware to read and execute the tasks in the task list may speed up the FFT process and make it more flexible. A hardware beacon sorter may be coupled to the FFT engine to sort the sub-carriers according to their energies.

Method And Apparatus For Adjustments For Delta-Based Power Control In Wireless Communication Systems

US Patent:
2013023, Sep 12, 2013
Filed:
Apr 25, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/870729
Inventors:
Tingfang Ji - San Diego CA, US
Aamod Khandekar - San Diego CA, US
Alexei Gorokhov - San Diego CA, US
Arumugam Chendamarai Kannan - San Diego CA, US
Naga Bhushan - San Diego CA, US

Assignee:
QUALCOMM Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04W 24/02
US Classification:
455501, 455 6711, 455522, 455509
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that provide techniques for performing adjustments for delta-based power control and interference management in a wireless communication system. A terminal can utilize one or more delta-based power control techniques described herein upon engaging in a reverse link transmission after a predetermined period of silence or after receiving indications of interference from neighboring access points. A delta value can be computed through open-loop projection, based on which transmission resources such as bandwidth and/or transmit power can be increased or decreased to manage interference caused by the terminal. A delta value, other feedback from the terminal, and/or indications of interference caused by the terminal can also be communicated as feedback to a serving access point to allow the access point to assign transmission resources for the terminal.

Matrix Analysis Of Gene Expression In Cells (Magec)

US Patent:
2006008, Apr 27, 2006
Filed:
Apr 14, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/510722
Inventors:
Gretchen Bain - San Diego CA, US
Lorrie Patricia Daggett - San Diego CA, US
Mark Massari - San Diego CA, US
Xin Zhang - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
C12Q 1/68, C12N 15/87
US Classification:
435006000, 435455000
Abstract:
The invention provides a novel expression cloning technique referred to as a matrix analysis of gene expression in cells (MAGEC) that allows for the indexed introduction, and analysis of nucleic acids in a host cell. While normally one takes cells attached to a surface followed by contacting the cells with heterologous DNA under conditions favoring the uptake of the heterologous DNA, the present invention, in sharp contrasts, proposes affixing (depositing) a nucleic acid-containing mixture onto a suitable surface and thereafter contacting suitable host cells (target cells) with the DNA-containing markings under conditions favoring uptake by the cells of the heterologous expression vector comprising a the target nucleic slide acid molecule. The method enables one to further characterize the gene product(s) of a known gene and unknown in a high-throughput assay format. It essentially allows for the identification of a gene based upon the function of its gene product.
