Telescoping Support Bar

US Patent:
7877824, Feb 1, 2011
Filed:
Mar 10, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/045389
Inventors:
Willie T. Grant - Birmingham AL, US
Carolyn R. Grant - Birmingham AL, US
International Classification:
A47K 3/024
US Classification:
45761, 45771, 4611
Abstract:
A telescoping support bar installed in a shower enclosure and similar facilities requires no mechanical wall fasteners. The support bar includes telescoping tubes with end retainers gripping walls of the enclosures. Length of the support bar is governed by fixed length spacer means and internal extensible means. Extensible means, having bearings movable along a rod, provides the lengthening and shortening of the support bar as the distance between the bearings is increased or decreased. This change in distance likewise changes the overall length of the support bar. With the retainers snug against the walls, one of the tubes, being rotatable, is turned in circular motion. This rotation is converted into an axial force along the bar causing the retainers to forcefully grip the walls, providing a rigid and strong bar installation.

Bath And Shower Support System

US Patent:
8393020, Mar 12, 2013
Filed:
Apr 6, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/755205
Inventors:
Willie T. Grant - Birmingham AL, US
International Classification:
A47K 3/024
US Classification:
45761, 211 8804, 211123, 211175, 2111051, 16436, 2482063, 248363
Abstract:
Bath and shower support systems for a bath or shower enclosure have adjustable grab bars bearing on adjustable lower supports and laterally connecting to a parallel tiled wall by suction cups clamped to the tile by locking means. An adjustable length upward extending grab bar attaches to the lower grab bar with its upper extremity attaching to the tiled wall by connection means that includes a suction cup.

Bath And Shower Assist Means

US Patent:
2008022, Sep 18, 2008
Filed:
Mar 12, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/684661
Inventors:
Willie T. Grant - Birmingham AL, US
International Classification:
A47K 3/024
US Classification:
45761
Abstract:
Assist means to aid users of bath and shower facilities; said means having installation independent of the typical screw type wall fasteners. Assist means comprising a horizontal grip bar having longitudinal, lateral, and vertical restraints. The longitudinal restraints consist of compressible means rotatively attaching to each extremity of the grip bar. Said lateral restraints comprise tensile means, suction cups, or like means, securing the grip bar to an enclosure wall parallel to the bar. During installation the grip bar is rotated about its longitudinal axis, causing the compressible means at each extremity to forcefully engage an enclosure wall. The vertical restraints connect to the grip bar and to lower compressible means that secure said restraints to the rim of a bathtub. A tub entry-exit bar and lift bar attaching to said grip bar provide safe assistance for the user.
