Method And Apparatus For Adjustably Mounting A Speaker

US Patent:
2007004, Feb 22, 2007
Filed:
Aug 17, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/161818
Inventors:
David Pincek - Huntington Beach CA, US
Andrew Edwards - Anaheim CA, US
William Stewart - Raleigh NC, US
Xiaozheng Lu - Irvine CA, US
Stanley Coe - Raleigh NC, US
Assignee:
RGB, INC. (DBA EXTRON ELECTRONICS) - Anaheim CA
International Classification:
A47F 5/00
US Classification:
248288310
Abstract:
A speaker mount includes a support structure attachment, an adjustable mount connected to the structure attachment and including a first connector, and a speaker attachment including a second connector. The first and second connectors may selectively be connected or disconnected, permitting a speaker to be connected to and disconnected from the remainder of the mount. The first connector is mounted to a ball. A lock plate is mounted at an opposing side of the ball from the first connector. A fastener controls the distance between the first connector and the lock plate. In one position, the fastener draws the lock plate and first connector towards one another, fixing the lock plate in a position on the ball, and in another position allows the first connector to be moved relative to the ball. The mount permits orientation of a speaker in a variety of positions relative to a support structure.

Bar Code Scanner Guide

US Patent:
5902990, May 11, 1999
Filed:
Feb 9, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/599580
Inventors:
William C. Stewart - Raleigh NC
International Classification:
G06K13/06;7/10
US Classification:
235483
Abstract:
A scanner guide for attachment to a pre-existing bar code scanner wand to enable such a wand to read bar coded labels disposed on a cylindrical surface of a relatively small diameter such as containers used for the collection of medical specimens. The scanner guide includes a cylindrical pin having a mounting base for positioning the same in generally parallel relation to a center axis of the scanner wand at a predetermined distance therefrom based upon the diameter of the cylindrical containers whereon the bar coded labels are disposed. A bottom surface of the mounting base is shaped to conform to the contour of the wand whereon it is to be mounted. In such an arrangement the scanner wand is held at a proper disposition in relation to the bar coded label as it is passed in a longitudinal direction over the same on the cylindrical surface. Thus, the proper reading may be obtained with a single passing and the scanning guide eliminates the necessity of repeated attempts at reading the bar code when disposed on a cylindrical surface.

Ceiling Speaker Assembly

US Patent:
2013001, Jan 17, 2013
Filed:
Sep 17, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/621363
Inventors:
WILLIAM CAMERON STEWART - Raleigh NC, US
ANDREW C. EDWARDS - Anaheim CA, US
MICHAEL HUDSON - Nashville NC, US
ANDREW EVANS - Raleigh NC, US
Assignee:
RGB SYSTEMS, INC. - ANAHEIM CA
International Classification:
H05K 5/00
US Classification:
181152, 181148
Abstract:
A ceiling speaker assembly is disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the ceiling speaker assembly includes a three-dimensional support frame attached to a perforated grille. The support frame is configured with a speaker aperture adjacent to which a speaker is mounted and a port aperture. The speaker aperture and port aperture are configured such that the speaker aperture is in communication with the front of the speaker and the port aperture is in communication with the rear of the speaker. In one or more embodiments, the support frame includes a horn cavity that functions as an acoustical cross-over such that higher frequencies generated by the speaker are emitted primarily through the speaker aperture and the lower frequencies generated by the speaker are emitted primarily through the port aperture.

Ceiling Speaker Assembly

US Patent:
8297402, Oct 30, 2012
Filed:
Dec 8, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/314824
Inventors:
William Cameron Stewart - Raleigh NC, US
Andrew C Edwards - Anaheim CA, US
Michael Hudson - Nashville NC, US
Andrew Evans - Raleigh NC, US
Assignee:
RGB Systems, Inc. - Anaheim CA
International Classification:
H05K 5/00
US Classification:
181152, 181150, 181148
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing a loudspeaker assembly is provided. In accordance with at least one embodiment, a method is provided which comprises forming a loudspeaker frame so as to define a driver housing portion, a horn portion, and a conformal portion. A driver aperture is defined for the driver housing portion, and a port aperture is defined for the horn portion. A driver is attached to the loudspeaker frame proximate to the driver aperture. A rear baffle is applied to a first conformal portion surface of the conformal portion of the loudspeaker frame. The rear baffle defines a horn cavity wall of a horn cavity of the horn portion. The horn cavity has an increasing cross sectional area as the distance from the driver housing portion increases. A grille is applied to a second conformal portion surface of the conformal portion of the loudspeaker frame.

Data Capture System Erases All Information Stored In Flash Memory If Available Storage In The Flash Memory Is Less Than The Maximum Segment Size

US Patent:
5864675, Jan 26, 1999
Filed:
Mar 15, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/616642
Inventors:
John S. Booth - Raleigh NC
Andrew C. Edwards - Long Beach CA
William C. Stewart - Raleigh NC
Brian R. Taraci - Foothill Ranch CA
International Classification:
G06F 1300
US Classification:
39520054
Abstract:
A system and method for capturing data communicated between a computer system and a printer. The data capture system monitors data communicated between the computer system and printer, acquires pertinent portions of the data, and stores the acquired data for later use. This system and method may be used to acquire patient encounter data, including demographic and insurance data, entered into a medical provider's computer office management system when the patient visits the medical provider. Often, the medical provider will print patient encounter data at a printer connected to the office management system. The data capture system acquires and stores pertinent portions of the patient encounter data, such as the demographic data, communicated from the medical provider's office management system to the printer. The acquired patient demographic data stored in the data capture system is later transferred to a commercial laboratory that performs tests on patient specimens taken from a patient visiting the medical provider. The commercial laboratory uses the patient demographic data to properly process the patient specimens and bill the patient's insurance company.

Time Control Device For Appliances

US Patent:
5046157, Sep 3, 1991
Filed:
Feb 3, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/152032
Inventors:
Stephen W. Smith - Raleigh NC
Leland W. Poole - Raleigh NC
William C. Stewart - Raleigh NC
International Classification:
G08B 100
US Classification:
34030915
Abstract:
A controlled device is disclosed for allowing a parent to control the use of an appliance by a child. The system includes a plurality of user cards, one of which is assigned to each child. A control device is interconnected with the circuitry of the appliance for actuating and deactuating the controlled appliance. The amount of time allotted to each child can be stored in the memory of the control device. The control device is responsive to input from the children's user cards and actuates the controlled appliance when the time allotted to such user is greater than zero. Once the controlled appliance is actuated, the time allotted to the then current user is decremented until the appliance is deactuated. When the time alloted to the then current user reaches zero, the control device will automatically deactuate the controlled appliance and that child cannot use the appliance until more time is allotted to him or her. The parent is given a master card which allows him to manually increment or decrement the time allotted to each child user.
