Hydraulic And Electrical System For Aircraft Belt Loader

US Patent:
4782938, Nov 8, 1988
Filed:
Feb 24, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/018791
Inventors:
Robert R. Cooper - Orlando FL
William C. Dean - Orange City FL
Assignee:
FMC Corporation - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B65G 6700
US Classification:
198301
Abstract:
This invention relates generally to hydraulic and electrical systems for aircraft belt loaders and more particularly to such systems with interlocks to facilitate efficient and safe operation. The present invention provides a hydraulic and electrical system for battery powered aircraft belt loaders which precludes actuation of the electric traction drive motors when the brake is applied or set, or without the operator seat being occupied, which precludes actuation of the belt conveyor if the brake is not set, which controls conveyor run time and requires that the conveyor be reset to neutral before being actuated the hydraulic pump to permit power steering when the operator seat is occupied, and which requires that the directional control lever for traction drive be reset to neutral after demounting the seat before the electric traction drive motors can be energized.

Low Profile Aircraft Belt Loader

US Patent:
4733767, Mar 29, 1988
Filed:
Apr 30, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/869815
Inventors:
James M. Anderson - Windermere FL
William C. Dean - Orange City FL
Assignee:
FMC Corporation - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B65G 4100
US Classification:
198304
Abstract:
An aircraft belt loader having electric motors to power the drive wheels and an electrically driven hydraulic pump for actuation of a hydraulic ram for elevation of a belt conveyor. A battery pack and the hydraulic compartment are positioned between the drive wheels and the steerable wheels and are spaced apart laterally to define a channel to accommodate the linkage including the hydraulic ram, supporting the conveyor.

Aircraft Belt Loader Hinge Assembly Having A Spring Loaded Shock Absorbing Hinge Support

US Patent:
4610049, Sep 9, 1986
Filed:
Sep 24, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/778778
Inventors:
William C. Dean - Orange City FL
Assignee:
FMC Corporation - Chicago IL
International Classification:
E05F 112
US Classification:
16286
Abstract:
A hinge assembly having a polytetrafluorine block affixed to a support member with a guide rod having an enlarged head extending through a guide bore. A compression spring is trapped on the guide rod between the guide block and a nut affixed to the free end thereof. A tube is affixed to the head of a pin extending through the tube and aligned holes and a pair of ears positioned on each side of the tube and attached to the hinged member.

Guide And Hand Rail With Latch

US Patent:
4574937, Mar 11, 1986
Filed:
Mar 5, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/586521
Inventors:
James M. Anderson - Windermere FL
William C. Dean - Orange City FL
Assignee:
FMC Corporation - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B65G 1700
US Classification:
198321
Abstract:
A multi-positionable rail for the conveyor of an aircraft belt loader having a rail supported by a plurality of parallel posts pivoted to the side wall of the conveyor and to the rail and collapsible under the force of gravity against a stop positioned on the conveyor side wall to a stowed position wherein the posts and rail are within the silhouette of the conveyor. A first support arm pivoted on the conveyor engages a first pin on a post to position the rail above the conveyor to function as a hand rail and a second support pivoted on the conveyor engage a second pin on a post to position the rail intermediate the stowed and hand rail position. A latch trapped on the post above the first pin is urged by gravity to engage the pin to prevent disengagement of the first arm from the first pin.
