Abstract:
A floating cover or roof having a plurality of floating panels or panels is provided. The floating cover disposed in a storage tank includes a frame having a plurality of openings, the floating panels mounted into the respective openings, an inspection port formed on an upper member of the floating panel and communicated with an inside of the floating panel. The inspection port provides the inspection of presence of moisture, vapor, and condensate trapped in the inside of each of the floating panels without disassembly of adjacent floating panels and also provides the replacement of damaged or degraded one among the floating panels without taking out the internal floating roof from the storage tank.

Abstract:
A process and structure of a joint for connecting a first panel and a second panel of a floating roof. Each panel being including an extrusion on an edge of said panel. The extrusions being generally U-shaped and each extrusion having two spaced ribs. The clamping bars, each clamping bar having two spaced slots that receive a said rib on each of the panels. The ribs being received in two spaced slots and the bars being clamped together. Before inserting the ribs in the slots a thin uniform layer of an elastomeric material is dispensed in the grooves and struck off to a uniform thickness and cured before inserting the bar into position on said extrusions.

Abstract:
A floating cover having a plurality of floating panels is provided. The floating panels are assembled to form the floating cover disposed in a storage tank. The floating panels are provided with extruded channels formed on each peripheral outside of a honeycomb. A trough or hollow inside is formed within the extruded channels. An inspection port is formed on the extruded channels to provide a user with an inspection for leakage without disassembling the floating cover and without taking out the floating cover from the storage tank. The inspection port provides the inspection of presence of moisture and condensate trapped in the inside of each of the floating panels and also provides the replacement of damaged or degraded one among the floating panels.
