Abstract:
System and methods for the dynamic readjustment of power are provided. In one embodiment a communications system comprises a base station including one or more radio head interface modules and a signal processing module, the radio head interface modules adapted to communicate with the signal processing module. The signal processing module performs modulation and demodulation of voice and data streams using one or more air interface protocols. The system further comprises a radio head unit coupled to the radio head interface modules over one or more transport mediums. The radio head unit communicates with one or more subscriber units using the air interface protocols. The radio head interface modules receive power level adjustment parameters from the signal processing module for one or more logical channels. The one or more radio head interface modules reconfigure a signal gain of one or more communications channels based on the power level adjustment parameters.

A communications system is presented. One or more radio head units are adapted to receive radio signals through one or more radio antennas and adapted to communicate voice and data streams to one or more radio head interface modules. The one or more radio head interface modules are adapted to communicate with a call processing software module wherein the call processing software module performs modulation and demodulation of voice and data streams using one or more air interface standards. An element management system module is adapted to alter one or more operating parameters of the one or more radio head interface modules and an SNMP agent module adapted to communicate with the element management system. The SNMP agent module is further adapted to alter one or more operating parameters of the one or more radio head interface modules based on write commands from an SNMP management module.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for controlling optical power attenuation are provided. A method comprises periodically measuring an optical power of an optical signal received by an optical receiver and periodically measuring a first attenuation control signal voltage. When the optical power measurement is outside a target power range, the method continues with calculating a target voltage necessary to maintain the optical power measurements at a target power level; calculating a second attenuation control signal based on the target voltage, wherein the second attenuation control signal is calculated to provide an over-damped transient response that maintains the second attenuation control signal within a usable range of a variable optical power attenuator; applying a second attenuation control signal voltage based on the second attenuation control signal to the variable optical power attenuator; and adjusting attenuation of the optical signal based on the second attenuation control signal voltage.

Abstract:
Systems for dynamic reallocation of bandwidth and modulation protocols is provided. In one embodiment, a radio head interface module comprises: a transmit buffer adapted to receive a data stream from a signal processing module and store the data stream as a page of data samples having a page header; a transmit engine; a digital upconverter, the transmit engine adapted to transfer the page of data samples from the transmit buffer to the digital upconverter; a configuration management unit adapted to receive reconfiguration information from the signal processing module, the reconfiguration information including at least one of air interface protocol parameters and bandwidth allocation information; and a memory adapted with digital upconverter parameters. The configuration management unit is accesses the memory to lookup associated digital upconverter parameters based on the reconfiguration information. The configuration management unit is further adapted to output the associated digital upconverter parameters to the digital up converter.
