Abstract:
The invention relates to the purification and cloning of a receptor for thyroid hormone. The receptor is designated PSTHR and is related to hormone receptors encoded by the genes erbA. alpha. -1, erbaA. alpha. -2 and erbA. beta. -1. The gene encoding PSTHR, erbA. beta. -2, is partially homologous to the erbA. beta. -1. However, PSTHR differs from the product of erbA. beta. -1 in that its expression is limited to the anterior pituitary gland. The invention additionally concerns the uses for PSTHR in the diagnosis and therapy of human conditions.
