Abstract:
In a system which corrects for attenuation artifacts in a SPECT study, a line source is parallel to the axis of rotation of the scintillation camera detector(s) and is scanned in a plane which is parallel to the detector. Advantageously, the line source is initially scanned at high speed across the detector to acquire preliminary transmission CT data and is subsequently scanned across the detector at lower speed to acquire additional transmission CT data. During rescanning, the shuttering of the line source, and/or the speed of the line source, is varied. This acquires transmission CT data which is more reliable and from which the attenuation of the patient may be more accurately calculated.

Abstract:
Apparatus for utilizing a single paper path for printing, copying, scanning, and sending and receiving facsimiles by combining a gear box assembly and an adjustable scan head assembly with a conventional printer. The invention contemplates a first position for scanning, copying, and sending facsimiles of an image, and a second position for printing, reproducing a copied image, and receiving facsimiles. In the first position, the path of a single sheet of paper is impeded by the scan head mechanism. In the second position, a sheet of paper onto which an image has been transferred by dot matrix, ink, or laser printing, can move through the multipurpose information transfer device unimpeded. The invention contemplates a single stationary path to which information transfer functions are added and taken away, instead of multiple paths to accommodate stationary information transfer functions.

Abstract:
A dispenser refilling system includes a bulk container for refilling a cartridge of a dispenser, so that the cartridge need not be disposed of after a single use. The system preferably includes one or more fill tubes that are movable by lever operation for extension into the chamber of the cartridge when desired. Each fill tube couples to a piston in the cartridge and directs the component to be replenished in the cartridge chamber through a port in the piston. In certain embodiments, the system includes two bulk containers and a dual chamber dispensing cartridge, and structure is provided to prevent inadvertently reversing the position of the cartridge and for insuring placement of the containers in proper receptacles.

An engineered pumping segment for facilitating efficient and accurate peristaltic pumping of fluids, providing regulation of fluid flow and providing an effective interface for sensing fluid line pressure in a peristaltic pump system. The engineered pumping segment includes an elastomeric membrane sandwiched between a rigid base and a rigid cover and a slider adapted to slidably mount about the base and cover. The membrane and base define a channel for fluid flow and the membrane, base and cover cooperate to facilitate peristaltic pumping of fluids through the engineered pumping segment and to provide a pressure sensing interface, and in combination with the slider, cooperate to regulate fluid flow.
