Anti-Spasmdoic Agents Having An Acetylenic Bond

US Patent:
4957941, Sep 18, 1990
Filed:
Jan 9, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/463892
Inventors:
William M. Davis - Tucson AZ
Assignee:
United Pharmaceuticals, Inc. - Tucson AZ
International Classification:
A61K 31135, A61K 31395, A61K 3140, A61K 3141, A61K 31435, A61K 31495, A61K 31535, A61K 3154
US Classification:
514648
Abstract:
A new class of anti-spasmodic compounds having two branch chains is provided. The compounds have the general formula: ##STR1## where Y is H or OH; j is an integer from 0 to 4; k is an integer from 0 to 4, and wherein m is an integer from 1 to 4; n is an integer from 1 to 4; p is an integer from 1 to 4; and X may be nonexistent or may be O, S, NH or CH. sub. 2 or salts thereof, but when X is nonexistent the terminal group in which both the n-chain and the p-chain is a methyl group. ##STR2## The reaction was performed under reflux condensation. Following the reaction, which was usually complete within a few hours, the acid chlorides were vacuum distilled and reacted with a thiol compound as described above. The compounds of this invention are anti-muscarinic agents (cholinergic-muscarinic receptor antagonists) which inhibit the actions of acetylcholine on autonomic effectors innervated by postganglionic cholinergic nerves as well as on smooth muscle that lacks cholinergic innervation. Since a major component of parasympathetic control of smooth muscle occurs via muscarinic receptors, these compounds are effective as modifiers of smooth muscle activity.

William B. Davis - Tucson AZ
Assignee:
Atlantic Richfield Company - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
B03D 102
US Classification:
209166
Abstract:
A process for separating metal sulfide minerals from an ore containing metal sulfide minerals and silicate clays by subjecting the finely divided ore to anionic flotation using an anionic collector to produce a metal sulfide mineral concentrate containing silicate clay, separating the anionic collector from the concentrate and subjecting the concentrate to cationic flotation to selectively float silicate and produce as a residual product a metal sulfide mineral concentrate containing reduced amounts of silicate clay.
