Wireless Microphone For Public Safety Use

US Patent:
2006027, Nov 30, 2006
Filed:
Nov 1, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/262724
Inventors:
Matthew Lee - Chapel Hill NC, US
William Silvernail - Raleigh NC, US
Ray Henry - Wake Forest NC, US
Randy Martinez - Burlington NC, US
International Classification:
H04M 1/00
US Classification:
455569100
Abstract:
A wireless microphone system for use with a mobile digital recording system is disclosed. The wireless microphone system is comprised of a wireless microphone with a built-in transceiver and an in-vehicle transceiver that is connected to a mobile digital recording system. The wireless microphone can transmit audio information in real-time to the in-vehicle transceiver when the wireless microphone is in radio range of the in-vehicle transceiver. The wireless microphone can operate out of radio range of the in-vehicle transceiver by saving recorded audio data to a memory. The saved audio information can be downloaded to the in-vehicle transceiver when the wireless microphone is back in radio range of the in-vehicle transceiver, and the system is enabled to synchronize the saved audio information with other information collected by the mobile digital recording system during the time that the wireless microphone was out of range of the in-vehicle transceiver.

Digital Video System-Intelligent Information Management System

US Patent:
2005009, May 12, 2005
Filed:
Nov 7, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/704046
Inventors:
Albert Dalola - Cary NC, US
William Silvernail - Raleigh NC, US
International Classification:
H04N005/76, H04N005/225
US Classification:
348207990, 386117000
Abstract:
A digital video information management system for monitoring and managing a system of digital collection devices is disclosed. Information files are automatically transferred from such collection devices to the information management system. Digitally captured information is classified to assign information attributes which are used to categorize and establish management, storage, and retention characteristics. A unique file, filename, and attributes are created for each recorded event, allowing the information management system to manage each event efficiently. The information management system automates a process to transfer digital information to other users or network-connected devices. Transfer of digital information can be done on a scheduled basis, or in response to an information request, or upon instruction by an end user. Information transferred from digital collection devices at geographically dispersed sites to the information management system are synchronized or “rolled-forward” to a master or mirrored database. Information is erased or deleted from a digital collection device once the information has been transferred to the storage and retention system of the information management system. The status of any given digital collection device is automatically determined and configuration and software updates are downloaded to the device as required. A centralized time reference may be used to synchronize such digital recording devices.

Discoverable Secure Mobile Wifi Application With Non-Broadcast Ssid

US Patent:
2008013, Jun 12, 2008
Filed:
Dec 11, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/636539
Inventors:
William Bradford Silvernail - Raleigh NC, US
International Classification:
H04L 9/00
US Classification:
380270
Abstract:
The invention is a system and method for establishing and maintaining network communication between two or more mobile vehicles without broadcasting an SSID to the world. The invention uses WiFi as the communication protocol, but provides for an alternate method of providing secure SSIDs. The alternate method provides a means for insuring the establishment and operation of secure data communication between two or more properly equipped vehicles while limiting the opportunity for a non-authorized user to intercept an SSID. Thus providing for better security in the initiation of a secure, mobile communication network between vehicles

Mobile Digital Video Recording System

US Patent:
2007003, Feb 15, 2007
Filed:
Nov 9, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/269636
Inventors:
William Silvernail - Raleigh NC, US
Jody Snow - Garner NC, US
John Glenn - Hillsborough NC, US
David Ridgway - Raleigh NC, US
Joseph Huang - Cary NC, US
Christopher Church - Connelly Springs NC, US
Olivier Singla - Apex NC, US

Sensor Activation Of Wireless Microphone

US Patent:
2006027, Dec 7, 2006
Filed:
Jan 9, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/327458
Inventors:
Matthew Lee - Chapel Hill NC, US
William Silvernail - Raleigh NC, US
Ray Henry - Wake Forest NC, US
Randy Martinez - Burlington NC, US
International Classification:
H04N 5/76
US Classification:
348231990
Abstract:
A wireless microphone attached to a ruggedized, mobile digital video recording system may be used to record audio of events when activated. To conserve file space in a storage device, a sensor may be used to activate the microphone for audio recording, and to cause video recording to begin at the same moment through a pairing mechanism between the wireless microphone and the mobile digital video recording system. This sensor activation provides a complete audio/visual record of the event, or series of events, that caused the sensor to trigger. The microphone may also be manually triggered, thus providing a user with a means to capture audio/visual records in an ad hoc fashion. All recorded events are saved to files in a high-capacity storage device for later retrieval and review.
