Cored Slab Building Construction

US Patent:
4010581, Mar 8, 1977
Filed:
Jul 17, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/596638
Inventors:
Raymond C. Keturi - Fairbanks AK
Wayne R. Sandstrom - Fairbanks AK
International Classification:
E04B 548
US Classification:
52220
Abstract:
A building construction of precast concrete slabs having cored channels running therethrough. The slabs are arranged to define upstanding walls and horizontal floor-ceiling members. Openings concealed by the junctures between slabs, provide communication between channels of adjacent slabs. Further openings, displaced from the junctures, provide for access to the communicating channels for installation or service of utilities in those channels, after the building is erected.

Portable Solar Energy Collector

US Patent:
4080955, Mar 28, 1978
Filed:
May 10, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/684771
Inventors:
Wayne R. Sandstrom - Fairbanks AK
International Classification:
F24J 302
US Classification:
126271
Abstract:
A flat flexible bag of water-impervious material is provided with inlet and outlet tubes extending along the inside of said bag adjacent respectively opposite edges. The bag is divided into transverse compartments, and the inlet and outlet tubes each have openings communicating with each of the compartments.

Water Distribution System

US Patent:
4111224, Sep 5, 1978
Filed:
Apr 29, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/681619
Inventors:
Wayne Sandstrom - Fairbanks AK
International Classification:
F16L 5504
US Classification:
137207
Abstract:
A multi-level building has a water supply pipe extending upwardly through all levels. A closed chamber at each level receives water from the supply pipe at a position below the top of the chamber to trap and pressurize air therein. A plurality of distribution pipes extend from at least one end of each chamber to points of use at that level of the building. In one form the water pipe extends vertically through the chamber and in another form the chamber and water pipe are separate.

Water Line Terminator

US Patent:
4206779, Jun 10, 1980
Filed:
Mar 29, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/891264
Inventors:
Wayne R. Sandstrom - Fairbanks AK
International Classification:
F16L 500
US Classification:
137360
Abstract:
A fixture for attachment to water lines during installation of plumbing in a building under construction. A closed chamber has a base flange for attachment to a suitable support and a water inlet tube near the base. An outlet tube extends in the chamber from a position near the base and through the other end where it is provided with a valve. The tubes are so arranged in the chamber that the fixture can be installed in either a horizontal or a vertical position and yet trap a body of air in the chamber when supplied with water.

Pipe Hanger Strap

US Patent:
4809601, Mar 7, 1989
Filed:
Sep 23, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/100202
Inventors:
Wayne R. Sandstrom - Fairbanks AK
International Classification:
F16L 300
US Classification:
248 58
Abstract:
A pipe hanger is disclosed in which an elongated strap member has a base portion with first and second ends and lateral edge portions having a thickness greater than that of the base portion. The first and second end portions overlap each other and a device to attach the pipe hanger to a support structure passes through the overlapped end portions. The increased thickness lateral edge portions define both a central gap between them and laterally extending slots which communicate with the central gap. A bracing support bracket may be slidably retained in the lateral slots by flanges which engage the slot such that the position of the bracket on the pipe hanger may be adjusted at the installation site. The end portions may also have a first and second part in which the second part is folded over onto the first part to provide additional reinforcing at the attachment point.

Pipe Support System

US Patent:
4852831, Aug 1, 1989
Filed:
Sep 23, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/100203
Inventors:
Wayne R. Sandstrom - Fairbanks AK
International Classification:
F16L 300
US Classification:
248 58
Abstract:
A pipe support system is disclosed having one or more members interposed between a pipe support, which may be a pipe hanger strap or a support cradle, and a pipe such that the pipe is directly supported by, and spaced from, the support. The generally "U" shaped members each have a base portion, a pair of leg portions extending from the base portion and a flange portion extending from the distal end of each of the leg portions. The members are oriented such that the base portion bears against the support, while the flange portions bear against an outer surface of the pipe. External pipe insulating material may pass through the "U" shaped members between the leg portions and between the base portion and the pipe surface. The members serve to directly support the pipe from the support without compressing the insulation layer in any fashion. The "U" shaped members may be attached to semi-cylindrical cover members which extend on either side of a hanger support.
