Electro-Therapeutic Faradic Current Generator

US Patent:
4124030, Nov 7, 1978
Filed:
Jan 5, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/756781
Inventors:
Wallace A. Roberts - Bellingham MA
International Classification:
A61N 136
US Classification:
128422
Abstract:
Therapeutic faradic current generators are used for stimulation of muscles and nerves of a body. Disclosed is such a generator in one embodiment having a unijunction transistor relaxation oscillator that feeds a Schmitt trigger, the output of which gates a power oscillator. The power oscillator drives a pair of electrodes that are put in contact with the skin.

Dermatological Ionizing Vaporizer

US Patent:
4369776, Jan 25, 1983
Filed:
Feb 19, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/235855
Inventors:
Wallace A. Roberts - Bellingham MA
International Classification:
A61N 144
US Classification:
12820014
Abstract:
In an apparatus which produces and delivers water vapor upon the skin of an animate subject for dermatological purposes, circuitry monitors the fluid level of a heated container and disables the heating element thereof. When the water level drops, resistance in a temperature sensitive device drops disabling voltage to the heating element via the control circuitry. The control circuit cuts off power to the heating element and is capable of producing a warning signal. Also provided in combination therewith are a vapor ionizer and means utilizing capacitive discharge technology for stepping up voltage to a vapor ionizing electrode coil member.

High-Voltage Apparatus For Skin Therapy

US Patent:
4093975, Jun 6, 1978
Filed:
Jan 5, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/757041
Inventors:
Wallace A. Roberts - Bellingham MA
International Classification:
H02M 544
US Classification:
363 27
Abstract:
An apparatus for skin therapy employs a circuitry for generating a high voltage that is connected to an electrode. The circuitry to step up voltage from a power supply includes a transistor, transformer and rectifier; and the means to control application of the stepped up voltage to an electrode coil or transformer includes a silicon controlled rectifier in series with a capacitor and an output transformer's primary. Pulsing means, having voltage supplied from a power source on a separate circuit, to control the rate of silicon controlled rectifier firing and therefore discharge of the capacitor includes a unijunction oscillator and transistor. The output transformer's secondary powers the electrode.

Epilation Apparatus

US Patent:
4224944, Sep 30, 1980
Filed:
Aug 21, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/935091
Inventors:
Wallace A. Roberts - Bellingham MA
International Classification:
A61B 1741
US Classification:
12830318
Abstract:
For the process of epilation by electrocogulation, a solid state circuit for the production of high frequency waves at predetermined timed intervals and intensities, the wave produced having slow rise and decay periods. An integrated circuit charges a timing capacitor which directs an amplification circuit consisting of transistors to direct intermittently timed wave-producing regulated voltage to a probe at the end of a coaxial cable having a predetermined impedance. An overrated transistor in an output circuit feeding the wave producing probe is capable of withstanding reflected and standing waves produced at said probe.
