Therapeutic Compression Garments

Therapeutic Compression Garments

US Patent:
2010005, Mar 4, 2010
Filed:
Feb 23, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/391051
Inventors:
Wade P. Farrow - College Station TX, US
Barry L. Creighton - College Station TX, US
Assignee:
FARROW MEDICAL INNOVATIONS, INC. - Bryan TX
International Classification:
A61F 13/06, A61N 1/02, A61L 15/00
US Classification:
602 63, 607149, 607 2, 607152, 602 75
Abstract:
A therapeutic compression apparatus includes a liner having a tubular body portion with a proximal opening for receiving a limb of a patient. The tubular body portion includes an inside region with an inside circumference that is sized to extend about and in contact with the limb. The inside circumference is substantially identical to a circumference of the limb at a respective area of contact. The tubular body portion includes an outside region having an outside circumference that varies from the inside circumference at respective cross-sections through the tubular body, such that a first function of a ratio of the difference between the inside circumference and the outside circumference at a respective cross-section through the tubular body, divided by the inside circumference at said respective cross-section, and a second function of the inside circumference at said respective cross-section determines, in part, a pressure exerted on the limb at said cross-section when compression is applied by said therapeutic compression apparatus.

Hybrid Compression Stocking

Hybrid Compression Stocking

US Patent:
8221340, Jul 17, 2012
Filed:
May 16, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/108933
Inventors:
Wade P. Farrow - College Station TX, US
Barry L. Creighton - College Station TX, US
Assignee:
Farrow Medical Innovations, Inc. - Bryan TX
International Classification:
A61F 5/00
US Classification:
602 23, 602 27
Abstract:
A compression stocking for compressing a limb is disclosed. The stocking may include a proximal tube, a distal tube, and an transition line or zone. The proximal tube may have a distal end and a proximal end and be configured to compress a proximal portion of a limb. The distal tube may have a distal end and a proximal end and be configured to compress a distal portion of the limb. The transition line or zone may provide a location where the distal end of the proximal tube connects to the proximal end of the distal tube. The transition line or zone may correspond to an abrupt change in magnitude between compression provided by the proximal tube and compression provided by the distal tube.

Trim-To-Fit Therapeutic Compression Garment System And Method

Trim-To-Fit Therapeutic Compression Garment System And Method

US Patent:
8376977, Feb 19, 2013
Filed:
Jun 27, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/169240
Inventors:
Wade P. Farrow - College Station TX, US
Barry L. Creighton - College Station TX, US
International Classification:
A61F 13/06
US Classification:
602 60, 602 63, 602 75
Abstract:
A method of treating a condition of a patient's limb is disclosed. The method may use a compression garment wrappable about the limb and a template comprising markings showing where to trim the compression garment to fit a smaller size limb. Measurements may be taken of a circumference of the limb of the patient. Next, the template may be positioned to overlay at least a portion of the compression garment. The compression garment may then be cut or trimmed proximate a marking of the markings matching the measurement.

Compression-Garment Band Method

Compression-Garment Band Method

US Patent:
8251933, Aug 28, 2012
Filed:
Sep 21, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/239158
Inventors:
Wade P. Farrow - College Station TX, US

Assignee:
Farrow Medical Innovations, Inc. - Bryan TX
International Classification:
A61F 5/00
US Classification:
602 13, 602 23, 602 27
Abstract:
A therapeutic compression garment is disclosed. The compression garment may include a first band wrapping around a first portion of a limb. The first band may deliver to the first portion a first level of therapeutic compression. The compression garment may further include a second band connected to the first band and positioned adjacent thereto. The second band may wrap around a second portion of the limb. The width of the second band may be greater than the width of the first band. Accordingly, when the first and second bands are applied with equal tension, the level of therapeutic compression provided by the second band may be less than the level of therapeutic compression provided by the first band.
