Interests:
Combining a lifelong interest in auto racing with his professional background as an engineer, Mr. Walling has developed a unique motorsports resume:
- Auto Racing Historian. He has documented speedway history in his compilations “Oval Track Almanac” and “A Graphical History of the Superspeedway in America – 1909 to Present”. His personal collection of speedway memorabilia includes rare speedway blueprints, technical literature, and aerial photos.
- Motorsports Journalist. From 1987-91, he served as technical correspondent on a weekly racing radio program broadcast in the Milwaukee area. From 1990-92, he produced “Motorsports ViewPoint”, an issue-oriented publication designed to stimulate thought and discussion regarding major league auto racing (Founder and editor).
