Medical Personnel Alert Rules Based On Grouping

US Patent:
8416085, Apr 9, 2013
Filed:
Feb 18, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/707933
Inventors:
Ute Gawlick - Salt Lake City UT, US
Assignee:
The University of Utah Research Foundation - Salt Lake City UT
International Classification:
G08B 23/00
US Classification:
3405731, 34053911
Abstract:
A method, a system, and a computer-readable medium are provided for generating an alert based on a physiological characteristic of a patient. A user interface window is configured to allow a user to define a first alert value, an indicator of a physiological characteristic of a patient associated with the first alert value, and an application type indicator for the alert rule indicating a group for which to apply the alert rule. A value and a characteristic indicator of the physiological characteristic of the patient are received. A group indicator associated with the patient is received. The received first alert value is identified by comparing the received characteristic indicator to the indicator. The received value is compared to the identified first alert value, and the received group indicator is compared to the application type indicator. An alert is generated based on the comparison.

Complex Alert Rules For A Medical Personnel Alert System

US Patent:
2011020, Aug 18, 2011
Filed:
Feb 18, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/707925
Inventors:
Ute Gawlick - Salt Lake City UT, US
International Classification:
G06N 5/02
US Classification:
706 47, 706 50
Abstract:
A method, a system, and a computer-readable medium are provided for generating a complex alert. Values of a plurality of physiological characteristics of a patient are received. The received values are compared to a complex alert rule associated with a medical condition. The complex alert rule includes a plurality of alert rules, wherein each alert rule includes an indicator of a physiological characteristic of a patient associated with the alert rule and a condition priority associated with an urgency of the alert rule. The complex alert rule also includes a trigger rule. The trigger rule includes a plurality of rules wherein each rule includes a number of satisfied alert rules for each value of the condition priority. A number of alert rules of the plurality of alert rules that are satisfied is determined for each condition priority of the complex alert rule based on the comparison. A complex alert is generated if the determined number of alert rules for a condition priority satisfies the trigger rule of the complex alert rule.
