Appl. No.:
10/026210
Inventors:
Daniel C. Buchner - Amherst OH, US
Todd C. Loschelder - Macedonia OH, US
Allen L. Talley - Hudson OH, US
Timothy J. O'Brien - Bay Village OH, US
William R. Markowitz - Cleveland OH, US

Assignee:
Moen Incorporated - North Olmsted OH
International Classification:
F16K043/00, E03C001/04
US Classification:
137 1501, 13731512, 137359, 137801, 4678, 4695
Abstract:
A faucet spout fixture provides for spout mounting and removal from above a supporting surface such as a sink deck, without disconnection of the water supply conduits beneath the sink deck. The fixture includes a faucet spout which has a water passage and a water discharge in communication with the passage. There is a water inlet in the spout which communicates with the passage. A water supply assembly is located beneath the supporting surface and there is a spout waterway adjustably connected to the water supply assembly, which spout waterway extends into the spout water inlet. There is a clamp member adjustably mounted on the spout waterway to be positioned against and on top of the supporting surface sink deck. A spout fastener extends through an opening in the clamp member and is held in position therein by a portion of the spout waterway. The spout fastener adjustably cooperates with a threaded bore on the spout to removably fasten the spout against and on top of the supporting surface.

Method For Measuring The Quantity Of Lead On The Surface Of A Brass Component

US Patent:
5612224, Mar 18, 1997
Filed:
Dec 5, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/567752
Inventors:
Timothy J. O'Brien - Bay Village OH
Assignee:
21st Century Companies, Inc. - Tyler TX
International Classification:
C12P 1964
US Classification:
436 73
Abstract:
A process for measuring the quantity of lead on the waterway surface of a brass component, for example a brass plumbing fixture, includes the steps of filling the brass component waterway with an aqueous solution of an acid which removes lead from the surface of the brass component. The acid solution is removed from the waterway after a time period which is sufficient to remove substantially all surface lead from the brass component, but which is insufficient for the acid to remove significant surface zinc and copper to expose surface lead. The quantity of lead per unit surface area of the brass component can then be determined by the use of the volume of the acid solution, the surface area of the brass component and the concentration of lead in the acid solution.

Corrosion And Abrasion Resistant Decorative Coating

US Patent:
2007008, Apr 12, 2007
Filed:
Apr 10, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/401398
Inventors:
James Sheek - Sanford NC, US
Jarek Grembowicz - Sanford NC, US
Inho Song - Mayfield Heights OH, US
Timothy O'Brien - Bay Village OH, US
International Classification:
B32B 15/01, C25D 5/24
US Classification:
428670000, 428660000, 428669000
Abstract:
A new article of manufacture, for example a faucet or other article of hardware, has a specified decorative color, and is resistant to corrosion, abrasion and attack by chemicals. The article includes a substrate, one or more corrosion resistant layers applied to the substrate, a thin transition layer having a composition that varies systematically from a first composition to a second composition and in which the first composition has, at least in part, the function of corrosion protection, and in which the second composition determines the visible color or that portion of the substrate to which the transition layer is applied.

Integrated Multi-Function Showerhead

US Patent:
7694897, Apr 13, 2010
Filed:
Apr 19, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/788086
Inventors:
Jamy Bulan - Lakewood OH, US
James F. Dempsey - North Olmsted OH, US
Timothy John O'Brien - Shaker Heights OH, US
Harshil Parikh - North Olmsted OH, US
Assignee:
Moen Incorporated - North Olmsted OH
International Classification:
B05B 1/14, A62C 31/00, A62C 2/08, A62C 37/08, E21F 5/04, F23D 11/38, F23D 14/48, A62C 37/20
US Classification:
239556, 239558, 239436, 239548, 239563
Abstract:
A showerhead has at least a first set of nozzles and a second set of nozzles for discharging water. The showerhead discharges water according to one of multiple water delivery functions, where a first water delivery function corresponds to water being discharged through only the first set of nozzles, a second water delivery function corresponds to water being discharged through only the second set of nozzles and a third water delivery function corresponds to water being discharged through the first and second sets of nozzles simultaneously. The spacing between the first set of nozzles and the second set of nozzles is carefully selected so that the third water delivery function corresponds to the integrated nozzles of the first and second sets of nozzles. As a result, the third water delivery function provides a coherent and balanced water flow resulting in a more pleasant feel.
