Pillow Optimized For Side Sleeping

US Patent:
6742207, Jun 1, 2004
Filed:
Dec 31, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/335014
Inventors:
Thomas W. Brown - Shawnee KS 66216
International Classification:
A47G 910
US Classification:
5636, 5644, 5637
Abstract:
A contoured pillow includes a top, a bottom, a front, a back and opposite sides. The front slopes forwardly from bottom-to-top and changes laterally in depth from side-to-side for cradling and supporting the shoulder. A neck support extension projects upwardly from the top and front and provides enhanced neck support due to the sloping configuration of the front. The top includes a recess forming a face relief pocket, right and left jaw relief areas, right and left airways extending from the jaw relief areas to the sides and a cranial support ridge. The pillow is molded from memory foam with thermally responsive characteristic for shaping itself to a particular user in conjunction with the generally concave geometry designed to give way to a generally spherical facial structure.

One-Piece Contoured Pet Bed Of Molded Memory Foam

US Patent:
2006000, Jan 12, 2006
Filed:
Jul 9, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/887942
Inventors:
Thomas Brown - Shawnee KS, US
International Classification:
A01K 1/035
US Classification:
119028500
Abstract:
A pet bed comprising a one-piece body including a base having a top surface, a wall structure, and a recessed space. The one-piece body is molded from a polyurethane visco-elastic foam material having a thermal response characteristic. The top surface is provided with a complex, three-dimensional surface contour having a concave contour component. The wall structure cooperates with the top surface to form and define a “nesting cradle”. The recessed space is provided to receive and retain any of a number of accessory, complementary, or otherwise desirable items. The solid, one-piece molded construction decreases production costs and increases product durability and longevity over prior art multi-piece pet beds, and the memory foam material and complex surface contouring work to avoid pressure points and provide even weight distribution, thereby minimizing loss of circulation and resulting numbness and resulting in more restful sleep.

Film Fill Sheets For Water Cooling Tower Having Integral Spacer Structure

US Patent:
4320073, Mar 16, 1982
Filed:
Nov 14, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/206872
Inventors:
Thomas W. Bugler - Prairie Village KS
Donald J. Lillig - Grandview MO
Thomas L. Brown - Shawnee Mission KS
Ohler L. Kinney - Leawood KS
Assignee:
The Marley Company - Mission KS
International Classification:
B01F 304
US Classification:
261112
Abstract:
An improved, self-positioning, synthetic resin, multiple-sheet fill structure for cooling towers is provided which preferably includes upright, thin fill sheets having elongated, outwardly extending, hollow, cooperable indexing units thereon; the respective indexing units are strategically located and arranged such that opposed units on adjacent sheets are transversely disposed relative to one another and telescopically interengage with two point contact. This construction minimizes sheet warpage while increasing the load and deflection resistance of the fill structure. Preferably, the indexing units are of outwardly tapered configuration and present arcuate, opposed end segments separated by recess-defining walls; inwardly extending bottom walls connected to the recess-defining walls serve as spaced abutment surfaces extending into the hollow regions defined by the units for engaging the associated units on adjacent fill sheets. The indexing units are advantageously arranged in upright columns and horizontal rows on the sheets in such manner that the longitudinal axis of each respective unit is transverse to the longitudinal axes of the next adjacent units in the column and row in which the respective unit belongs.

Abstract:
A dental appliance for maintaining a separation between the occlusal plane surfaces of the posterior teeth in order to avoid or minimize the adverse effects of bruxism, especially while sleeping. The appliance comprises bitepad assemblies, side assemblies for adjustably receiving the bitepad assemblies, and a strap assembly for connecting the side assemblies. Bitepad cores are provided with solid projections and mechanical locks that enhance bonding with associated overmolds for improved durability. Side assembly flanges are divided to achieve independent flexibility and improved conformity for enhanced stability and comfort. A mesial area of the connecting strap assembly is thickened and rigidified to create a flare in the areas of the cuspid roots to minimize irritation and discomfort to the gum tissue.
