Multi-Band Broadcast Tuner

US Patent:
2006027, Dec 7, 2006
Filed:
Jun 3, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/144299
Inventors:
Michael Womac - McKinney TX, US
Thomas Davis - Carrollton TX, US
International Classification:
H04B 17/02, H04B 1/06, H04B 7/00
US Classification:
455133000, 455277100
Abstract:
A system for receiving radio-frequency signals includes a first input path, a second input path, a selector, and a mixer. The first input path is capable of transmitting to the mixer a first input signal propagating in a first portion of the radio-frequency spectrum, while the second input path is capable of transmitting to the mixer a second input signal propagating in a second portion of the radio-frequency spectrum. The selector is capable of selectively coupling one of the first input path and the second input path to the mixer. Additionally, the mixer is capable of receiving an input signal and downconverting at least a portion of the input signal that is propagating within a selected frequency range. The mixer is also capable of outputting the downconverted portion of the input signal.

Clutter Generator For Use In Radar Evaluation

US Patent:
4625209, Nov 25, 1986
Filed:
Jun 26, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/624846
Inventors:
Gene W. Lawrence - Spokane WA
Thomas L. Davis - Carrollton TX
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air
Force - Washington DC
International Classification:
G01S 740
US Classification:
342169
Abstract:
The testing of radar systems is enhanced with the use of clutter generator that simulates realistic terrain echo returns which are provided in real-time. A fast array processor is used in combination with a Fourier Transform processor to produce a complex digital output having time, frequency and magnitude information corresponding to the composite echos from thousands of points. A digital-to-analog converter filters the output and a single-sideband mixer converts the digital output to a radio frequency signal.
