Fish Leader For Terminated Electrical Cables

US Patent:
5938181, Aug 17, 1999
Filed:
Apr 30, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/070021
Inventors:
Thomas J. Holden - Warrington PA
Assignee:
Strongarm Designs, Inc. - Horsham PA
International Classification:
F21C 2916
US Classification:
2541343FT
Abstract:
A fish leader for pulling terminated cables through conduits or other passageways includes a coupler which attaches directly to the cable connector. The trailing surface of the coupler matches the lateral profile of the mating surface of the connector and therefore minimizes the lateral dimension of the attached connector/coupler pair. The coupler attaches to the connector using the existing connector fastening screws which engage threaded holes in the coupler. A curved and tapered leading front surface of the coupler enables it to deflect around obstructions as it is moved through the conduit. A swivel attachment at the front of the coupler provides attachment for a pulling member, such as a cable string or fish tape. The trailing surface of the coupler includes a recess to enclose the connector pins, protecting them from damage while pulling the cable.

Gas Spring Pressure Release Mechanism

US Patent:
6446943, Sep 10, 2002
Filed:
Jan 10, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/041457
Inventors:
Thomas J. Holden - Warrington PA
Assignee:
Strongarm Designs, Inc. - Horsham PA
International Classification:
F16F 500
US Classification:
267 6412, 267 6419, 267118, 188300
Abstract:
A gas spring device includes a pressure adjustor having an actuator mechanism which regulates the rate of discharge through a pressure-release valve in equal bursts small enough to permit precise adjustment of the internal working pressure of the gas spring. Manually turning the actuator mechanism provides a consistent application of intermittent inertial force to the gas spring pressure-release valve so that resultant equal bursts provide a controlled release of pressure, even from imprecise manual operation. The chance of over-bleeding is eliminated since the mechanics of the actuator mechanism provides a single metered burst of released gas regardless of how quickly or slowly it is turned, thus the size of the burst is not dependent on the operators skill. Because the adjustor mechanism is integrated directly into the device, it is compact and does not interfere with other surrounding mechanical structures.

Tilting Display With Cabinet Seal

US Patent:
5825613, Oct 20, 1998
Filed:
Jul 17, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/896136
Inventors:
Thomas J. Holden - Warrington PA
Assignee:
Strongarm Designs, Inc. - Horsham PA
International Classification:
G06F 116, H05K 500
US Classification:
361681
Abstract:
A tiltable viewing screen includes a display screen bezel used in conjunction with a special seal which permits the screen to be pivoted without losing the sealing effect between the environment and a sealed cabinet in which the screen is mounted. The bezel is provided with axles at each side located at the midpoint between top and bottom of the bezel which permit rotation about a horizontal midline. In order to provide a constant gap between the rectangular bezel and the cabinet wall as the bezel is tilted about its axis, the bezel is shaped along its top and bottom surface in a constant radius arcuate contour. The radius is defined by the distance between the outer surface of the bezel and the axis of rotation. Various sealing materials, including pile seal or an elastomeric gasket, may be used. The preferred embodiment includes an LCD computer monitor, however, different viewing panels may be mounted within the bezel.
