Skills:
Management: To me, the most satisfying part of management is to uncover, enable and develop successful habits in ordinary people. I believe that after the hiring and training of a new employee, it is the duty of management to provide a structure that clearly defines the employees roles and responsibilities, systems that support successful behavior and achievement of goals, reward beyond compensation and continual guidance to enhance personal growth. The work environment should be open, respectful and friendly. Dispute resolution should be immediate. Good practices should be publicized. Good deeds should be recognized. Finance: I functioned as controller for many years. During that time I was responsible for forecasting, budgeting and monthly reporting. I have created profit and loss statements viewed by location, product line, sales territory, departmental as well as summary. Those statements always compared current year to both budget and previous year. The most significant reports that I created, was the maintenance of key financial data (like sales and expenses) in a rolling 12 trailing month total. When these points are plotted over time, clear trends, devoid of seasonality, can be clearly viewed. The accounting firm always commented on how easily we created year-end schedules and tax data. A principal from that firm can be made available as a reference. Technology: I have been working closely with Realtime Software (a MultiValue developer) in the development and sales of a high-functioning ERP solution for distribution and manufacturing based on the D3 relational database architecture. During the last 25 years, I have sold over 30 systems in the US, Great Britain and Australia and have been involved in the data conversion and installation for many of those customers. Additionally, I have trained over 200 software operators ranging from warehouse personnel to executive management in the systems use. I have expertise in data base design and programming. I have working familiarity with various web languages like .net, html, Javascript and php. I have developed web pages, presentations, catalogs, manuals, advertising and flyers using Pagemaker, Illustrator, Corel, Word, Excel and Powerpoint. I can work at a command line level with Windows, AIX, Linux and Mac. Although I do not consider myself an expert, I do know when Im talking to one. I have hands on experience working with integrated ERP solutions for distribution including: quotation, order entry, inventory (make and buy), serial control, warranty, service orders, AP, AR, GL, CRM and purchase/replenishment. In the manufacturing area: capacity planning, production control, bill of materials, routing, MRP, MRPII, cost control, master planning/scheduling. I have worked with all types of hardware and interfaces, including PCs, servers, routers, hubs, barcode scanners, printers, fax modems, RF devices and more. I have connectivity experience with ethernet, RS232, RS422, optical, wan, lan and vpn as well as various security tools and protocols. Human Resources: I have hired, motivated and developed people from all backgrounds including executives, managers, salespeople, mechanics, drivers, accounting staff and warehouse personnel. I have dealt with employee issues such as substance abuse, marital problems, criminal problems, financial problems and a myriad of other personal problems. In my career, the company, nor I, have ever been involved in any legal actions or threats of legal actions. I have always been a strong advocate of clearly written policies composed with the input of all employees. I have developed all types of compensation programs including: performance bonus, commissions and piecework. I have experience in most common benefits including health, disability, childcare, IRAs, 401ks and profit sharing. Government Compliance: I have active working knowledge of various regulatory entities such as ERISA, COBRA, DOT, OSHA, EPA and various state agencies. I, again, believe that successful compliance is best achieved with clearly written company policy. I have always maintained a cooperative relationship and attitude with government agencies reasoning that they are here for the protection of all. Marketing: I have segmented, targeted, exploited, commanded and abandoned dozens of markets with campaigns using various methods from subtle to guerrilla. I have advertised using direct mail, periodicals, radio and TV. I have designed logos, brand names and various advertising images. I have federally trademarked and defended names and images. Some of the most successful events were high-touch open houses and training seminars. Franchising: As a method of business expansion, I created a franchising concept. While this concept did not get off the ground due to financing constraints, all documentation, procedures, IT structure, operations manual and FCC registration were completed and in place. Facility Development: Growing from 1 to 8 locations, gave me many opportunities to design and develop retail facilities. I have worked with architects, contractors and regulators on building design, construction and compliance. Inventory Management: Inventory is cash! I have always worked to lower inventory value while raising customer service level. Because most of my experience was dealing with seasonal demand, I created an inventory replenishment calculator using a seasonally weighed Poisson Distribution. The system computed reorder points on over 50,000 parts, on a monthly basis using 24 months of sales history (hits and units). This resulted in an average 93% fill rate and a more acceptable inventory value. Banking: I have always kept close relationships with my banking contacts. I submitted all financial reporting to our banks on a timely basis. As an asset-based borrower, accurate asset valuations and an open dialog, kept our bank confident and flexible. I would be happy to provide banker references upon request. (UMB - St. Louis & U.S. Bank - St. Louis). I also served on the UMB Bank Advisory Board for over 20 years.

Method And Apparatus For Assembling Electrochemical Cell Using Elastomeric Sleeve

US Patent:
5677078, Oct 14, 1997
Filed:
Sep 27, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/534790
Inventors:
Tristan Juergens - Black Hawk CO
Thomas P. Walker - Denver CO
Assignee:
Bolder Technologies Corp. - Golden CO
International Classification:
H01M 230
US Classification:
429 94
Abstract:
An electrochemical cell and a method of manufacturing the same. Plates of opposite polarity are wound spirally and end connectors with protruding hubs are attached to each end. Elastomeric sleeves are fitted around both of the hubs. The assembly is placed within a casing having a jacket and an end with a hole through it, whereby one end connector hub and its associated sleeve extends through the casing end hole. The end connector hub is radially expanded against the sleeve by installing a blind rivet in the end connector hub, thereby causing the sleeve to radially expand into the casing. A casing cover having a hole through it is placed on the other end. A blind rivet similarly expands the end connector hub into its sleeve, and the sleeve is expanded into the cover. The plates may be of the very thin type, and the end connectors may be attached by casting them onto the thin plates.
