Flexible Cryoneedle Apparatus And Method

US Patent:
2013009, Apr 11, 2013
Filed:
Oct 7, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/269256
Inventors:
Satish Ramadhyani - Minneapolis MN, US
Ted J. Perron - White Bear Lake MN, US
William M. Jacqmein - Woodbury MN, US
Assignee:
GALIL MEDICAL INC. - Arden Hills MN
International Classification:
A61B 18/02
US Classification:
606 21
Abstract:
A flexible cryoneedle usable within a medical scope that is both substantially flexible for maneuvering and positioning a distal end thereof proximate to a soft tissue and substantially rigid for penetrating the tissue. A generally concentric cryogas supply tube within the flexible cryoneedle comprises a helical heat exchange surface on an outside surface thereof, wherein the helical heat exchange surface defines a helical exhaust passage for the cryogas entering the cryogas supply tube and expanding through a Joule-Thomson orifice into an expansion chamber at the distal end of the flexible cryoneedle.

Input Engaging Clutch

US Patent:
2003004, Mar 6, 2003
Filed:
Mar 5, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/092165
Inventors:
Joseph Arnold - Lindstrom MN, US
Ted Perron - White Bear Township MN, US
Assignee:
Reell Precision Manufacturing Corporation - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
F16D013/08, F16D041/20
US Classification:
192/04100S, 192/055400, 192/08100C
Abstract:
A clutch has a rotatable input, a rotatable output, a spring and a damper mechanism. The rotatable input is capable of being rotated and of being held stationary. The spring is coupled to the input such that each time the input changes modes the spring changes states. The damper mechanism allows the spring to change states without rotating the input. The rotatable output is positioned relative to the spring such that the output synchronously rotates with the input when the spring is in the first state and rotates independently of the input when the spring is in the second state.

Closed-Loop System For Cryosurgery

US Patent:
2014004, Feb 13, 2014
Filed:
Aug 8, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/569822
Inventors:
Satish Ramadhyani - Minneapolis MN, US
Ted J. Perron - White Bear Lake MN, US
Mark Zagarola - Lebanon NH, US
Vineel Vallapureddy - Coon Rapids MN, US
Assignee:
GALIL MEDICAL INC. - Arden Hills MN
International Classification:
A61B 18/02
US Classification:
606 25
Abstract:
A closed-loop system for cryosurgery includes a cryofluid at cryogenic temperatures flowing through a closed-loop flow path. A pump, configured for operating at cryogenic temperatures, circulates the cryofluid in the closed-loop flow path. The closed-loop flow path includes a heat exchanger coupled to a heat sink configured for cooling the cryofluid in the closed-loop flow path to cryogenic temperatures. The closed-loop system includes one or more cryoneedles configured for providing cryotherapy, and one or more flow control devices, wherein each flow control device is configured for operating at cryogenic temperature and for selectively flow connecting or flow disconnecting at least one of the cryoneedles to the closed-loop flow path.

Variable Speed Clutch

US Patent:
7007780, Mar 7, 2006
Filed:
Apr 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/826511
Inventors:
Joseph E. Arnold - Lindstrom MN, US
Ted Perron - White Bear Township MN, US
John Kossett - Vadnais Heights MN, US
Assignee:
Reell Precision Manufacturing Corporation - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
F16H 3/06, F16D 13/08, F16D 21/04
US Classification:
192 21, 192 482, 192 4892, 192 51, 192 81 C, 192 846, 192 8481, 74355, 74724
Abstract:
A variable speed slip clutch is provided. The clutch has an output shaft, a first and second input hub, and output hub, a wrap spring and a control hub. In one embodiment, the clutch includes a source coupler coupled to a first and a second input drive. The output shaft is configured to rotate. The first input hub is coupled to the first input drive and configured to rotate about the output shaft in a first direction. The second input hub is coupled to the second input drive and configured to rotate about the output shaft in a second direction opposite the first direction. The output hub fixed to the output shaft and configured to rotate therewith. The wrap spring has a first and a second end. The first end of the wrap spring is fixed to the output hub such that the first end of the wrap spring rotates with rotation of the output hub. The control hub is coupled to the second end of the wrap spring.

Wrap Spring Brake

US Patent:
7080719, Jul 25, 2006
Filed:
Sep 7, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/935372
Inventors:
Joseph E. Arnold - Lindstrom MN, US
Ted J. Perron - White Bear Township MN, US
Assignee:
Reell Precision Manufacturing Corporation - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
F16D 63/00
US Classification:
188 77W, 188 826
Abstract:
A winch with a wrap spring brake is provided. The winch includes a rotatable drum configured to wind and unwind a cable. The cable may be connected to a load to be moved. A shaft is coupled to the drum such that rotation of the shaft causes rotation of the drum, thereby winding or unwinding the cable about the drum. The winch also includes an input hub capable of rotating and coupled to the shaft such that rotation of the input hub causes rotation of the shaft. The winch also includes a grounding hub. Finally, the winch includes a wrap spring wound about the grounding hub. The wrap spring has a first end and a second end. The first end of the wrap spring is coupled to the shaft such that the first end rotates with the shaft. The wrap spring is configured to be wrapped down on the grounding hub when the input hub is not rotated, thereby automatically locking the winch.
