Abstract:
A securing device for an endotracheal tube preferably includes a shield having an opening through which the endotracheal tube can pass and a clamp mounted on the shield for holding the endotracheal tube. A bite block for preventing occlusion of the endotracheal tube by a patients teeth may be mounted on an opposite surface of the shield from the clamp.

Abstract:
A device for securing a catheter with respect to a patient's mouth that preferably includes a balloon that can be inflated within the patient's mouth on the exterior of the catheter, a bite block, and a shield. The balloon preferably immobilizes the catheter with respect to the securing device when inflated while permitting relative movement of the catheter and the securing device when deflated. The balloon preferably also prevents inadvertent withdrawal of the securing device from the patient's mouth when inflated while permitting withdrawal when deflated. The invention preferably includes a method for using such a securing device.

A securing device for a catheter that preferably includes a guard that covers a patient's upper or lower teeth and a latch mounted on the guard for releasably immobilizing a catheter with respect to the guard. The guard preferably includes (or is attached to) a wedge, which contacts the patient's molars to prevent the guard from shifting in the patient's mouth and assists in keeping the patients teeth apart.
