Abstract:
An ambulatory assistance device is provided, having a base that supports an individual in a generally upright position. A forward support frame is provided for engagement between the individual's upper extremities and the operating surface. Forward ambulation may be achieved by shifting the individual's mass toward one side of the device and then pulling on the support frame to pivot the opposite side of the device in a generally forward direction. Repeating the process in a mirror fashion moves the other side of the individual and the device in a generally forward direction. Optional platforms and foot restraints are provided for positioning and securing the individual on the base. Various base configurations are provided to adjust the performance of the device according to conditions.

An ankle, leg and hip exercising device is disclosed which includes a parabolic-shaped base portion having a foot supporting and retaining portion at the upper end thereof. A plurality of pipe stubs are secured to the device which are adapted to receive weight supports thereon. At least one of the upstanding pipe stubs is designed to have a flexible tubular member positioned therein which extends upwardly therefrom so that the user may either resist the movement of the device in any of its 360. degree. permissible movements, and also enables the user to cause the movement of the device in any of its 360. degree. movements. The foot of the user is securely received in a recessed portion of the foot supporting and retaining portion to positively maintain the user's foot in the proper position. The device of this invention may be used while either sitting, reclining or standing.

Abstract:
Attachment is provided for a conventional wheelchair to enable the conventional wheelchair to traverse irregular terrain. The attachment comprises a pair of frame members which are secured to the frame of the wheelchair and which extend forwardly therefrom. A drive wheel is pivotally and rotatably mounted at the forward end of the frame members and has a pair of ratchets secured to the opposite sides thereof. An actuating arm extends upwardly and rearwardly from each of the ratchets and has a handle provided at its upper end. The user of the wheelchair may propel the wheelchair by reciprocating the actuating arm.

Abstract:
An all-terrain wheelchair includes a frame which has a steering platform attached to the forward most portion. The steering platform has an operable ground-engaging pneumatic wheel which is controlled by a steering handle. The steering handle may be selectively locked in a fixed position by an operable locking mechanism. A seat is attached to the rearward portion of the frame. Attached to the frame on each side of the seat is an elongated axle with a large diameter, ground-engaging wheel. Each wheel has a plurality of uniformly spaced tubular members secured to the outer peripheral sides of each wheel and extending horizontally outwardly therefrom. A removably attached arm on each axle can be operably engaged with the tubular members to cause forward or rearward motion of the vehicle. An operable winch is mounted forwardly of the seat on the frame.

An all-terrain wheelchair comprising a frame constructed of tubular air-filled frame members to enable the wheelchair to be amphibious. A pair of rear drive wheels are rotatably mounted on the rear of the frame and are controlled by ratchet arms operatively connected thereto. An attachment is provided which may be mounted on a conventional wheelchair to enable the conventional wheelchair to traverse a regular terrain. The attachment comprises a pair of wheel drive assemblies which are mounted to the rear wheels of the wheelchair. Each of the wheel drive assemblies comprises inner and outer plates which embrace the inner and outer surfaces of the wheel and which are interconnected by means of bolts. The nut or bolt head is positioned outwardly of the outer surface of the outer plate and has a ratchet wrench mounted thereon. A hollow pipe embraces the upper end of the ratchet wrench and extends upwardly therefrom. An inverted U-shaped member has its opposite ends rotatably received by the upper ends of the hollow pipes.
