Axial Piston Pump And Improved Valve Plate Design Therefor

US Patent:
6196109, Mar 6, 2001
Filed:
Nov 16, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/193322
Inventors:
Steven J. Zumbusch - Chanhassen MN
Benjamin M. Hoxie - St. Paul MN
Maynard W. Marts - Bloomington MN
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F01B 3100
US Classification:
91 65
Abstract:
A hydraulic unit of the type including a cylinder block (19) rotatably disposed adjacent a valve plate (51;61) having inlet ports 41a, 41b, and 41c, and further having outlet ports 43a, 43b, and 43c. Disposed between the individual inlet and outlet ports are web portions, having nominal cross-sections and flow restrictions. In one embodiment (FIG. 3), there is a modified web portion (55) toward the trailing end of the outlet port, and in the other embodiment (FIG. 7), there is a modified web portion (65) toward the leading end of the outlet port. In either case, the web portion has its cross-section or flow restriction modified to move the resultant force on the swashplate (33) in a direction tending to reduce the moments on the swashplate, and therefore, reduce the operator effort required to move or maintain the control lever.

Operator Control Device

US Patent:
2010020, Aug 19, 2010
Filed:
Jan 20, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/690141
Inventors:
Steven J. Zumbusch - Chanhassen MN, US
Assignee:
EATON CORPORATION - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
G05G 9/047
US Classification:
74471XY
Abstract:
A control assembly adapted for use on a vehicle to be controlled in response to variations in first and second control signals, comprising a stationary mounting member and a handle () adapted to be held in the hand of an operator. The handle is moveable in forward and reverse directions to generate the first signal and is moveable in left and right directions to generate the second signal. The control assembly comprises an elongated connector member () which by itself, or in cooperation with one of the stationary mounting member () and the handle, defines a first pivot axis (A). When the handle is held in a normal manner in the hand of an operator, the first pivot axis (A) is oriented generally perpendicular to the arm of the operator, and approximately intersects one of the hand and the arm of the operator.

Pump Control Override For Tandem Pumps

US Patent:
7165396, Jan 23, 2007
Filed:
Jul 11, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/618417
Inventors:
Steven J. Zumbusch - Chanhassen MN, US
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F04B 49/22, F16D 31/02
US Classification:
60430, 60486
Abstract:
A tandem pump assembly of the type including a housing (H), disposed in which is a first pump (), driven by an input shaft (), and a second pump (), also driven by the input shaft (). The assembly is characterized by the tandem pump assembly including pressure override valve means () associated with only the first pump (), and operable, in response to a fluid pressure at a fluid outlet port () in excess of a pressure override setting (), to communicate pressurized fluid to a first fluid pressure responsive means (), in a manner tending to decrease the displacement of the first pump () without effecting the displacement of the second pump (), until said fluid pressure is substantially equal to the pressure override selling (), even if it is necessary for the first pump () to go over-center from its initial displacement.
