Inventors:
Bhalchandra R. Tulpule - Farmington CT
Steven A. Avritch - Bristol CT
Geoffrey T. Blackwell - Vernon CT
Andrew M. MacKay - Newington CT
Assignee:
United Technologies Corporation - Hartford CT
International Classification:
G06F 1300
US Classification:
395281
Abstract:
An interface between a host and a bus includes label generator and a memory. The label generator responds to bus label signals from the bus, for providing label signals. The memory responds to bus signals from the bus, for providing memory host signals to the bus. The memory further reponds to the label signals from the label generator for storing the label signals as label memory signals. The memory further responds to host signals from the host, either for providing memory bus signals to the host when the host reads memory bus information from the memory, or for providing said label memory signals to the host when the host reads label memory information from the memory.

Redundant Two Stage Electro-Hydraulic Servo Actuator Control

US Patent:
8534599, Sep 17, 2013
Filed:
Mar 31, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/076702
Inventors:
Christopher Noll - Glastonbury CT, US
Steven A. Avritch - Bristol CT, US
Assignee:
Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation - Windsor Locks CT
International Classification:
B64C 9/00
US Classification:
244 992, 701 36, 244 993, 244 994, 244175, 244212
Abstract:
A flight control system includes a dual stage actuator for moving a control surface. Each stage includes several control valves that are controlled independently to provide a desired redundancy. A flight controller generates a position command that is indicative of the position desired for the control surface. A first communication link is provided between several flight controllers to share information. Each of the flight controllers forwards the position command to actuator remote processing unit. The actuator remote processing unit receives position commands and generates a command signal that controls movement of the actuator using the control valves. Each of the actuator remote processing units is linked through a second communication link. Feedback and balancing of the different control valves is provided by the visibility accorded each actuator remote processing unit by the second communication link.

Mid-Value Signal Selection System

US Patent:
5202679, Apr 13, 1993
Filed:
Apr 1, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/678500
Inventors:
Bhalchandra R. Tulpule - Farmington CT
Steven A. Avritch - Bristol CT
Assignee:
United Technologies Corporation - Hartford CT
International Classification:
H04Q 700
US Classification:
340825160
Abstract:
A signal selection system has input thereto a plurality of redundant input signals having varying values along with signals indicative of the validity of the plurality of input signals, comparison logic compares all possible pairwise combinations of the input signals to determine which input signal in each of the input signal pairs has the greater value or to determine if the input signals in each pair have equal values. Mid value selection logic determines which one or more of the values of the input signals from the plurality of valid input signals are to be used to determine the output signal according to a mid value selection criterion. The selection logic has a plurality of combinational logic elements arranged to execute predetermined Boolean logic equations in determining which one or more of the values of the input signals from the plurality of valid inputs are to be used to determine the output signal according to the predetermined mid value selection criterion.

Reconfigurable Input/Output Interface

US Patent:
2006013, Jun 22, 2006
Filed:
Dec 17, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/016277
Inventors:
Steven Avritch - Bristol CT, US
Richard Poisson - Avon CT, US
Ronald Bauer - Windsor Locks CT, US
International Classification:
G06F 13/38
US Classification:
710069000
Abstract:
A reconfigurable interface provides device-specific processing through software rather than hardware. The reconfigurable interface that samples an output from at least one device and converts it to a digital signal. The digital signal can then be processed in any desired manner, such as to extract intelligence or condition the signal. The conversion and the processing are controlled by data in a configuration table, which are easily modified and reconfigured to accommodate different systems and devices. The same reconfigurable interface can be used for any type of device and the devices do not require customized hardware interfaces to communicate with a signal processor.
