Abstract:
Plasma lipid levels are reduced by internally administering to a mammal a binuclear phenol. The two aromatic rings may be bonded together directly as in 4,4'-bis(2,6-di-tert-butylphenol). Likewise, the aromatic rings may be bonded through a bridging group such as --CH. sub. 2 --CH. sub. 2 --, --SO--, --S. sub. m --, --O--CH. sub. 2 --CH. sub. 2 --O--, --CH. sub. 2 --SO. sub. 2 --, --CH. sub. 2 --S. sub. n --CH. sub. 2 --, --CH. sub. 2 --O--CH. sub. 2 --, and ##STR1##.
