A method for difference threshold encoding comprising designating a first frame of image data as a reference set. Designating a second frame of image data as a difference set. Comparing the reference set to the difference set to generate a difference metric. Encoding the second frame as a duplicate of the first frame if the difference metric is less than a threshold. Storing the second frame if the difference metric is equal to or greater than the threshold. Designating a third frame of image data as a second difference set. Comparing the second difference set to the reference set to generate a second difference metric.
