Ms. Boyd's philosophy is that an integral part of treatment is the relationship between therapist and patient and that helping patients recognize their unique skills, talents and qualities is important. She uses skills-based, cognitive behavior therapy to help her clients with trauma, PTSD, abuse and neglect, grief and loss, domestic violence issues, ADHD, depression, anxiety, oppositional behaviors, school and behavioral problems, among others. When working with children, Ms. Boyd is able to understand the importance of how they communicate through play and in the healing power of play therapy. Additionally, she works very closely with the parents and other caregivers throughout the therapeutic process, and incorporates family therapy and therapeutic parenting during the play therapy sessions.
