Abstract:
This subject invention is a protective shield for protecting implanted and/or transdermal medical devices, during showering, bathing, or swimming. This protective shield comprises an a protective layer including an outer pocket formed from moisture resistant adhesive material located on one side along the peripheral edge of the protective layer. In one embodiment, the protective layer includes a line of perforations. In another embodiment, the outer pocket includes an inner pocket to contain and provide added protection for an implanted and/or transdermal device. In yet another alternate embodiment, the outer pocket includes an inner bag having an opening therethrough, where the opening is surrounded by a medical grade adhesive for attachment to a patient's skin. The medical device is inserted into the bag through the opening.
