As a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst I have been priviledged to serve as Chair of the APA Committee of Black Psychiatrists and the APA Council on Minority Mental Health and Health Disparities, as Secretary and Chair of the APsaA American Psychoanalytic Foundation Committee, and as a member of the Board of Black Psychiatrists of America.
At the University of Washington, I have been acknowledged for my work as a long term mentor of students in the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program.
In broadcasting, the series HARD CHOICES was honored with a DuPont Columbia Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.
