Stich Controller For An Electric Sewing Machine

US Patent:
5050513, Sep 24, 1991
Filed:
Feb 7, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/652090
Inventors:
Samuel R. Frankel - Shillington PA
International Classification:
D05B 1900, D05B 6922
US Classification:
11212111
Abstract:
A stitch controller for installation on an electric sewing machine with a treadle and a needle positioner to make the machine semi-automatic. The controller has a CPU which directs, by means of a program in its memory, the machine through a defined number of stitches in a run of stitches and a defined number of runs of stitches. Additionally, the CPU will direct the needle position to up or down according to the program.

Automatic Needle Threader

US Patent:
5345888, Sep 13, 1994
Filed:
Nov 15, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/152325
Inventors:
Samuel R. Frankel - Shillington PA
International Classification:
D05B 8700
US Classification:
112225
Abstract:
An automatic needle threader, which uses compressed air to thread the needles of sewing machines, has means for imparting a rotational or swirling motion to the air which smooths out the frayed ends of the thread for easier and more positive threading. The compressed air is directed into an air chamber in which a spiral shaped baffle is mounted to impart the swirling motion. The threader can be permanently mounted on a sewing machine with a hinge connection allowing the threader to be moved out of position when not in use and to be moved into position so that the exiting end of the air chamber is located adjacent and opposite the eye of the needle. Alternatively, the threader may be removably mounted to a sewing machine using straps connected to the hinge.

Roof Rib Finder And Fastening Device Using An Inductive Switch

US Patent:
6064189, May 16, 2000
Filed:
Mar 4, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/034666
Inventors:
Samuel R. Frankel - Reading PA
Assignee:
Construction Fasteners, Inc. - Wyomissing PA
International Classification:
G01R 1900
US Classification:
324 67
Abstract:
A roof rib finder and fastening device using an inductive switch whereby ribs in a roofing structure can be located and a signal given to an operator to lower and actuate a screw loading device to enable the installation of a screw through an opening in a washer to achieve securement of the screw-washer combination to a rib in a roofing structure; the device includes a support frame, a screw loading device, a washer retaining device and an inductive proximity switch including an adjustable sensing distance potentiometer secured to a support frame as well as a light to indicate to the installer that the proper position on the roofing structure immediately above a rib has been located.

Electronic Sewing Machine

US Patent:
5189971, Mar 2, 1993
Filed:
Oct 29, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/605030
Inventors:
Samuel R. Frankel - Shillington PA
Meghanad D. Wagh - Bethlehem PA
International Classification:
D05B 6910
US Classification:
112220
Abstract:
An electronic sewing machine whose needle bar assembly is made to reciprocate by means of a pair of cooperating solenoids in conjunction with a bobbin driven by a stepping motor to accomplish the sewing. The stepping motor's steps are made variable programmatically by a CPU attached to the machine such that the tightness of a stitch may be controlled. Additionally, the machine may be programmed to deliver a defined number of stitches in a defined number of stitch runs, position the needle up or down, report a variety of accounting and maintenance data and can be taught to perform a variety of sewing runs.
