Application And Energy Applying Methods For Root Canal Sealing Material

US Patent:
2003014, Aug 7, 2003
Filed:
Nov 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/298035
Inventors:
Robert Sicurelli - Brooklyn NY, US
Samuel Masyr - Brooklyn NY, US
International Classification:
A61C005/08, A61C005/02
US Classification:
433/220000, 433/224000
Abstract:
In connection with insertion of a post into a root canal, a simultaneous curing of the tangible sealing ma1terial aggregate is accomplished. Gutta percha or other sealing material is removably attachable to the apical end of the post and heat or other energy is applied to the post, either before and/or after the post is inserted into the root canal of the tooth being treated, to plasticize and condense the tangible sealing material aggregate. The sealing material is removably integral with the post, or removably attached to the post. In other cases, the tangible sealing material aggregate is provided in a tapered tip and is attached to the bottom of the post without heat or other energy sources, or by condensation, and is therefore attached as an uncondensed single point fill. When placed in the root canal, the tangible sealing material aggregate tip is held in place by typical root canal cements, such as eugenol based cements, resin based cements and glass ionomer cements.

Flexible Post In A Dental Post And Core System

US Patent:
5741139, Apr 21, 1998
Filed:
May 20, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/651805
Inventors:
Robert J. Sicurelli - Muttontown NY
Samuel Masyr - Brooklyn NY
Assignee:
Tru-Flex Post Systems, Inc. - Muttontown NY
International Classification:
A61C 508
US Classification:
433220
Abstract:
A dental post and core system having an inelastic flexible post. The post, which may be radiopaque and tooth colored, conforms to the natural curved contours of a root canal to reduce machining of the tooth and mechanical weakening of the tooth structure. The post is made of a material having a plurality of fibers, wherein at least one or more of the fibers is non-axially aligned with respect to a straight axis extending from a coronal end to an apical end of a root of the tooth, such as non-axially aligned fibers twisted together, or such as randomly dispersed fibers in a plastic composite. Since not all the fibers are axially aligned, increased strength is achieved by reduction of the possibility of an axially extending fault crack in the resin of the post.

Flexible Post In A Dental Post And Core System

US Patent:
5919044, Jul 6, 1999
Filed:
Nov 28, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/978867
Inventors:
Robert J. Sicurelli - Muttontown NY
Samuel Masyr - Brooklyn NY
Assignee:
Tru-Flex Post Systems, Inc. - Muttontown NY
International Classification:
A61C 508
US Classification:
433220
Abstract:
A flexible post for endodontic or reconstructive tooth therapy having a modulus of elasticity which is less than or equal to that of dentin of 18 GPa (giga Pascals). The present invention is preferably made of fiberglass fibers, such as optical fibers, medical grade optical fibers, other medical grade fibers or other fiberglass composite fibers. The micro filaments of the present invention are treated to impart flexibility to each fiber. The fibers are twisted by twisting on other non-axial arrangements of the fibers to impart strength to the unit post. This allows it to function as a permanent post in a tooth. The dental post is flexible and the post conforms to the natural curved contours of a root canal to reduce machining of the tooth and mechanical weakening of the tooth structure.

Flexible Syringe Needle

US Patent:
6162202, Dec 19, 2000
Filed:
Oct 26, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/178931
Inventors:
Robert Sicurelli - Muttontown NY
Samuel Masyr - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
A61M 532
US Classification:
604272
Abstract:
A flexible irrigation syringe tip with a "Luer Lock" or other type of connector commonly used in medical tubing includes a flexible needle. The needle shaft is preferably made of a material which is bendable but which returns to its original shape, such as silicone, polypropylene or other flexible metal alloys and has an open or a closed tip. The tip may be flat or rounded. The hollow shaft of the flexible syringe itself is parallel sided with at least one hole in it to allow the irrigation solution to flush the canal when inserted. Preferably, to insure backflowing of the fluid from the tip area of the syringe needle backwards up the tooth canal, the at least one hole is a lateral side port, which lateral port causes the exiting of fluid in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of flexible syringe needle. The shaft may have at least one fluid diverter, such as a flute or groove to help direct the debris up and out of the tooth. This flute or groove may be straight or spiraled.

Force Redirecting Dental Core System

US Patent:
2011012, May 26, 2011
Filed:
Nov 24, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/592347
Inventors:
Robert Sicurelli - Syosset NY, US
Samuel Masyr - Brooklyn NY, US
International Classification:
A61C 5/11
US Classification:
433221, 433220
Abstract:
A dental core and post system for restoration of teeth includes a core device and a dental post formed as a rod-like member extending along a central vertical axis between a coronal end and an apical end. At least one portion of the rod-like member including the apical end is configured for fixation within a root canal of a tooth for restoration. The core device is attached to or is integral with the coronal end of the dental post. At least one of the core device and dental post include an inner, low-density volume configured to limit mechanical forces communicated through the core device and dental post coaxially with the central vertical post axis after fixation.
