Hydraulic Setting Tool For Installing Anchoring And Foundation Support Apparatus

Hydraulic Setting Tool For Installing Anchoring And Foundation Support Apparatus

US Patent:
4974997, Dec 4, 1990
Filed:
Mar 16, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/169019
Inventors:
Samuel J. Sero - Pittsburgh PA
James S. Collins - Monaca PA
Victor Yates - Sewickley PA
Assignee:
Secure Anchoring & Foundation Equipment, Inc. - Aliquippa PA
International Classification:
E02D 554, E02D 580, E02D 700
US Classification:
405231
Abstract:
A hydraulic setting tool assembly for setting earth anchor and foundation devices comprising side-by-side hydraulic motive members. Each motive members comprises a piston movable within a cylinder. The piston has a piston arm extending out of the cylinder. Movement of a piston under the pressure of hydraulic fluid causes the associated piston arm to extend from or retract into its associated cylinder. A piston arm bearing plate is secured to the extended ends of the piston arms. A cylinder bearing plate is secured to the base of the cylinders. The bearing plates are parallel to each other and an opening is provided in each of the plates midway between the motors so that said openings are aligned for the passage of a threaded rod therethrough. An adjustable nut on the rod restrains one of the bearing plates against movement along the rod while the other bearing plate can move relative to the rod to force an earth anchor or foundation device into the earth.

Anchoring And Foundation Support Apparatus Having Moment Resisting Vanes And Method

Anchoring And Foundation Support Apparatus Having Moment Resisting Vanes And Method

US Patent:
4882891, Nov 28, 1989
Filed:
Mar 15, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/168261
Inventors:
Samuel J. Sero - Pittsburgh PA
James S. Collins - Monaca PA
Victor Yates - Sewickley PA
Assignee:
S.A.F.E. - Aliquippa PA
International Classification:
E04H 1220
US Classification:
52742
Abstract:
An anchor or foundation apparatus and a method for installing said apparatus in an earthen hole. The apparatus is equipped with outwardly extending moment resisting vanes. The apparatus employs pivotally swingable plates which swing in an arc upwardly or downwardly into the surrounding media to fix the device therein. The surface of the plates forced into the surrounding media is provided with oppositely disposed rib means extending along the upper and lower edges of the plates and said rib means serve as media containment means. The media containment means extends the zone of media consolidation and the plane for dislodgement of the device a considerable distance outwardly into the surrounding media. When the device is employed in the anchor mode the moment resisting vanes can be forced downwardly into the zone of media consolidation to provide enhanced resistance against moment imparting forces.

Apparatus For Expandably Engaging The Walls Of An Earthen Hole

Apparatus For Expandably Engaging The Walls Of An Earthen Hole

US Patent:
3962837, Jun 15, 1976
Filed:
Oct 11, 1974
Appl. No.:
5/514091
Inventors:
Samuel J. Sero - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
F02D 574
US Classification:
52158
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for expandably engaging the walls of an earthen hole in order to resist movement urged by an external force. After placement of the apparatus into an earthen hole at a location where some external force is to be restrained, the detonation of an explosive charge drives a piston out of an explosion chamber, and by a wedging action, forces an axially segmented cylinder outwardly against the surrounding earth. A substantially stable connecting foundation is thus created in order to resist either tensile or compressive forces.

Anchoring And Foundation Support Apparatus And Method

US Patent:
4843785, Jul 4, 1989
Filed:
Mar 15, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/168268
Inventors:
Samuel J. Sero - Pittsburgh PA
James S. Collins - Monaca PA
Victor Yates - Sewickley PA
Assignee:
Secure Anchoring & Foundation Equipment, Inc. - Aliquippa PA
International Classification:
E02D 574
US Classification:
52160
Abstract:
An anchor or foundation apparatus and a method for installing said apparatus in an earthen hole. The hydraulic force exerted to swing the plates into the surrounding media is measured, from which the strength of the installation is known.
