Oct 3, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/783567
Inventors:
Samuel G. Bonasso - Morgantown WV
International Classification:
F16C 922
US Classification:
138157
Abstract:
A structural system for use in bridges, buildings and other structures. The system supports part of its load by tension action and part of its load by arch action. Cables are stretched and anchored between end supports. Lateral compressive elements are placed over the cables and fit over grooves across the bottoms of the elements. The gooves vary in depth. The cables are near the bottom of the elements at the center span and near the top of the elements at the end supports.

Filed:
Aug 16, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/204541
Inventors:
Samuel G. Bonasso - Morgantown WV, US

US Classification:
405284, 4053024
Abstract:
A method for forming a structure includes arranging a plurality of cylindrical segment elements on a surface. Each of the first plurality of cylindrical segment elements defines a cylindrical void therein. Aggregate material may be poured over the plurality of cylindrical segment elements such that the cylindrical voids are substantially filled with aggregate particles. The cylindrical segment elements limit lateral movement of the aggregate particles.
