Automatic Biopsy Device Housing A Plurality Of Stylets

US Patent:
5234000, Aug 10, 1993
Filed:
Sep 25, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/951611
Inventors:
Said I. Hakky - Largo FL
Perry B. Hudson - St. Petersburg FL
International Classification:
A61B 1000
US Classification:
128754
Abstract:
An automatic biopsy device for taking plural samples of tissue of a patient. The device is pneumatically operated in response to the depressing of a trigger by the operator and makes use of a removable cassette in which a plurality of stylets are located. The stylets are disposed on a moveable tray within the cassette and are arranged to be selectively positioned within the device for propulsion through a releasably mounted cannula at a high speed into the tissue to be sampled. Each stylet includes a groove adjacent its distal end into which the tissue to be sampled enters when the cannula is propelled into the tissue. Thereafter and in automatic response to the propulsion of the stylet through the cannula into the tissue, the cannula is propelled over the stylet to excise the tissue within the stylet's recess. The propulsion of the stylets and cannula is so rapid that the tissue sampling procedure is virtually pain-free. The stylet and cannula are retracted in response to release of the trigger so that the stylet is withdrawn into the cassette.

System And Method For Traffic Related Information Display, Traffic Surveillance And Control

US Patent:
2007006, Mar 29, 2007
Filed:
Sep 23, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/232917
Inventors:
A-Hamid Hakki - Dunedin FL, US
Said Hakky - Largo FL, US
Sam Hakki - Bay Pines FL, US
Hadi Hakki - Largo FL, US
International Classification:
G08G 1/095
US Classification:
340907000
Abstract:
The system and method for traffic surveillance, control, and traffic related information display uses display units each having display element sensors and cameras where the operation is controlled by a processor. Anticipatory sensor systems continuously measure speed and deceleration of approaching vehicles, sends signals to the processor which in turn analyzes the incoming signals. A rapid sequence camera continuously records audio-video images. When the rate of deceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold, which may be indicative of an imminent accident, the processor activates a store regime of the audio visual images on-site or transmitted to an off-site location for further actions. The information on the traffic flow condition which may affect the vehicle travel is displayed on the display unit. The system provides for the detection of pedestrians about to cross an intersection and controls the traffic light pattern accordingly. The display unit utilizes shapes, motions, and color to provide for easily understandable messages to vehicle occupants and pedestrians.

Laser Resectoscope With Mechanical Cutting Means And Laser Coagulating Means

US Patent:
5312399, May 17, 1994
Filed:
Sep 29, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/961766
Inventors:
Said I. Hakky - Largo FL
Perry B. Hudson - St. Petersburg FL
International Classification:
A61B 1736
US Classification:
606 15
Abstract:
A resectoscope and a method of use for removing organic tissue, e. g. , the prostate gland, from the body of a living being. The resectoscope includes an elongated member having a distal end adapted to be introduced into the body of the being at the situs of organic tissue to be removed via a tubular sheath. The resectoscope includes a laser for producing a laser beam adjacent the distal end of the elongated member to penetrate several millimeters through the surface of the tissue to coagulate. A rotatable cutter, e. g. , a pair of angled offset planar blades, is disposed at the distal end of the elongated member and is arranged to be rotated at a high rate of speed by an associated drive assembly to cut the coagulated tissue. A lumen is provided to carry an irrigation liquid to the situs of the tissue. A suction lumen is provided to carry the tissue removed by the cutter so that it can be retrieved for histological examination.

Laser Resectoscope With Ultransonic Imaging Means

US Patent:
5201731, Apr 13, 1993
Filed:
Jun 26, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/721032
Inventors:
Said I. Hakky - Largo FL
International Classification:
A61B 1736
US Classification:
606 15
Abstract:
A resectoscope for prostate surgery is provided which includes a rotating cutting element mounted within an outer sheath adapted to be inserted into the urethra. The cutting element has helical threads along the length thereof and a cutting blade at its distal end. The outer sheath has a covered distal end portion which extends beyond and over the cutting blade and has an opening therethrough adjacent the cutting blade. Within the outer sheath is an inner sheath surrounding the cutting element except for the cutting blade. A fiber optic laser filament connected to a laser generator is positioned within the space between the inner and outer sheaths and extends along the length of the inner sheath to a position adjacent the cutting blade. The optic filament is surrounded by a third sheath and is adapted to be moved by the rotation of the cutting element so that the laser light beam from the optic filament advances through tissue to cut and coagulate the resected area before the cutting blade of the cutting element reaches the resected tissue. Irrigation fluid is provided to the area between the inner and outer sheaths and is withdrawn through the inner sheath.
