Expanding Anchor Fastener

US Patent:
4530630, Jul 23, 1985
Filed:
Jul 14, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/398083
Inventors:
Russell L. Brown - Oklahoma City OK
International Classification:
F16B 1304
US Classification:
411340
Abstract:
This expansion anchor consists of a cylindrical body having an axial bore therethrough and first and second axial ends. A wing support member extends from the first end of the cylindrical body and generally has a central cylindrical section shape. The wing support member has first and second opposed planar surfaces extending parallel to a central bore which is co-axial to and extends the axial bore in the cylindrical body. The first and second opposed planar surfaces of the wing support member join perpendicularly with the first axial end of the cylindrical body to form first and second recessed shoulder spaces, respectively, therewith. Formed as a part of the unitary plastic anchor are first and second expanding wing elements. These wing elements have a planar engagement surface which are hingedly connected to the wing support member along the planar surface of the wing support member such that the wing elements are movable from a collapsed, axial position to an open, radial position. The first and second expanding wing elements have shoulders disposed for being received in the recessed shoulder spaces when the first and second expansion wing elements are in their open position.

Filed:
Aug 20, 1973
Appl. No.:
5/389942
Inventors:
Russell L. Brown - Oklahoma City OK
International Classification:
E04F 1902, A47B 9500
US Classification:
52717
Abstract:
A chair rail which includes an elongated rigid rail member having a channel centrally positioned on one side thereof and extending over the length of the rail member, a bumper strip of resilient material slidably positioned in the channel and protruding outwardly from the rail member for protecting the rail member against shocks and impacts, and a base plate adapted to be secured to a supporting surface and having a structure associated therewith for snap on connection of the rail member thereto.

Device For Use With A Toggle Bolt

US Patent:
4392763, Jul 12, 1983
Filed:
Aug 18, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/178830
Inventors:
Russell L. Brown - Oklahoma City OK
International Classification:
F16B 2100
US Classification:
411342
Abstract:
A device for use with a toggle bolt of the type having a toggle threadable to a bolt. The device comprises a spool which has an opening for receiving the bolt therethrough. Connected to the spool is a leg member for extending along the bolt such that the toggle is guided by the leg member as the toggle is engaged by the bolt. The spool fits in the hole in a securing member through which the bolt extends to fix the bolt with respect to the securing member.

Impact Absorbing Handrail And End Cap

US Patent:
4353529, Oct 12, 1982
Filed:
Nov 13, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/093832
Inventors:
Russell L. Brown - Oklahoma City OK
International Classification:
E04H 1714
US Classification:
256 59
Abstract:
A handrail having an elongated trim piece received on an elongated retainer. The retainer has a medial portion, a handgrip portion and a retainer flange portion, the handgrip portion having a vertical support member which provides a substantially rigid support of the trim piece with respect to a vertically downward force. The trim piece is made of a resilient material adapted to flex toward the retainer upon impact. The trim piece has a medial portion, a handgrip portion and a flange portion. The trim piece joins closely with the retainer to avoid dirt and germ traps. Preferably, an end cap is provided to close the end of the rail. The end cap has two mating wall members which form an interior space. A fastener disposed within the interior space connects the end cap to the retainer. The wall members have interlocking pieces within the interior space to interlock the two mating wall members when they are joined.

Sun Tracking Control System

US Patent:
4151408, Apr 24, 1979
Filed:
Mar 5, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/664261
Inventors:
Russell L. Brown - Oklahoma City OK
Charles M. Burton - Edmond OK
Assignee:
Brown Manufacturing Company - Oklahoma City OK
International Classification:
G01J 120
US Classification:
250203R
Abstract:
A control circuit for tracking of a heat radiation source which functions to maintain heat collection structure in optimum alignment with the source thereby to enable maximum efficiency of heat collection; the control circuit includes a threshold circuit for sensing ambient light level to provide enablement control to A-C power circuitry which energizes the heat collector orienting drive system, and the threshold circuit also functions to automatically invert the heat collector to a protected position upon detection of insufficient threshold voltage; and, the circuit further comprises a tracking section energized by a radiation sensor to cause intermittent energization of the drive system to further enable intermittent bi-directional tracking movement of the heat collector, such tracking circuitry being enabled by detection of sufficient threshold voltage.
