Wheel Adjustment Mechanism For A Forage Blower

US Patent:
4045041, Aug 30, 1977
Filed:
May 14, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/686615
Inventors:
Roger L. Risser - Leola PA
Joe E. Shriver - East Earl PA
Assignee:
Sperry Rand Corporation - New Holland PA
International Classification:
B62D 2118
US Classification:
280 4317
Abstract:
A forage blower having a frame with a wheel pivotally mounted on each side of the frame incorporates an improved adjustment mechanism for adjusting the blower unit in a plurality of vertical positions relative to the ground. The wheels are independently adjusted by the improved mechanism which includes an arcuate shaped downwardly facing bracket mounted on the frame and interconnected by a threaded rod to pivotal arm means which rotatably mounts the wheel. The lower end of the rod is threaded within a swivel nut which is rotatably mounted on the arm means. An engaging member, conforming to the arcuate shape of the bracket, is mounted on the rod below the bracket and positioned in mated relationship with the bracket such that the forces due to the weight of the blower unit are distributed over a large area thereby facilitating rotation of the screw threaded rod.

Feed Material Handling Apparatus

US Patent:
4158469, Jun 19, 1979
Filed:
Aug 22, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/826377
Inventors:
Roger L. Risser - Leola PA
Arthur L. Kelsey - Leola PA
Thomas L. Stiefvater - New Holland PA
Assignee:
Sperry Rand Corporation - New Holland PA
International Classification:
B65G 5340
US Classification:
406 89
Abstract:
The feed material handling apparatus has a frame supporting a feed-receiving hopper disposed horizontally on said frame and an impeller rotatable about a vertical axis therein impels said material through a discharge tunnel to a substantially vertical blower having an impeller operable about a horizontal axis which urges the material up a vertical transition member into a silo or the like. The hopper adjacent said tunnel is partially covered and provided with air inlet openings, while the sidewalls of said blower are imperforate except for a material inlet opening from said tunnel and openings for a shaft for said impeller of said blower. A metering blade also is mounted adjacent the inlet to said tunnel to control the flow of material to said tunnel.

Fast Acting Clutching And De-Clutching Mechanism

US Patent:
4171180, Oct 16, 1979
Filed:
Mar 20, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/888279
Inventors:
Robert A. Wagstaff - New Holland PA
Bernard T. Jenny - Lancaster PA
Roger L. Risser - Leola PA
Assignee:
Sperry Rand Corporation - New Holland PA
International Classification:
B60P 138
US Classification:
414502
Abstract:
A fast acting clutching and de-clutching mechanism in combination with a safety apparatus for a forage wagon is disclosed. Two interconnected alternative input drive shafts, one of the unloading from the front of the wagon and the other for the unloading to the rear thereof, are connected to the operable components of the wagon via a two-jaw clutch. Manually operated trip mechanisms adjacent the main openings in the wagon box are used to rapidly disengage the clutch jaws whenever sufficient contact is made therewith. A manual reset device is employed to engage the clutch jaws and reactivate the trip mechanisms.
