Combination Airport Air And Ground Transportation Marker And Airport Traffic Way

US Patent:
7302908, Dec 4, 2007
Filed:
Aug 15, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/504440
Inventors:
Roger Bieberdorf - Mesa AZ, US
International Classification:
E01F 9/00
US Classification:
116 63P, 40217
Abstract:
A combination airport air and ground transportation marker and airport traffic way comprises broad, substantially coextensive first and second sheets of pliant material each having a perimeter edge formed with a fluid ballast bladder formed with a fluid inlet for permitting intake and outtake of fluid relative to the bladder for filling and relieving the bladder, and a relief vent for relieving pressure in the bladder during the filling of the bladder with fluid and the relieving of the bladder of fluid. The first sheet is splayed out onto an airport traffic way, and the second sheet is splayed out onto the airport traffic way overlying the first sheet of pliant material, whereby the first and second sheets cooperate forming a marker for the airport traffic way. A charge of fluid fills each of the bladders fluid ballasting the marker relative to the airport traffic way.

Adjustable Extension For Airport Light Base

US Patent:
6685333, Feb 3, 2004
Filed:
Jun 4, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/161846
Inventors:
Roger Bieberdorf - Mesa AZ 85207
International Classification:
E01F 900
US Classification:
3621531, 362365, 362366, 362430, 404 26, 52 28
Abstract:
This invention relates to height adjustable extensions of in-ground containers for embedded container light supports in airport runways. The apparatus has a first and second telescoping tube, each having a wall terminating in a flange. The flange on its upper end is for the reception of a light fixture, and the flange at the bottom end has bolt holes registering with the flange on the upper end of the in-ground container. There are a plurality of tapped bores in the wall of the outer tube. Set screws in the tapped bores are adapted to bear on the inner tube. The method of extending the height of the lighting fixture container comprises these steps: providing the apparatus as described above, positioning the telescoping tubes at a required height position; tightening the set screws to temporarily preserve the height position; pouring cementitious material around the positioned tubes; and allowing the cementitious material to set to hold said tubes in place.

Airfield Lighting System With Regulator Selector

US Patent:
7557733, Jul 7, 2009
Filed:
Dec 6, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/567303
Inventors:
Roger Bieberdorf - Mesa AZ, US
International Classification:
G08B 21/00
US Classification:
340945, 340947, 362559, 701 3
Abstract:
An airfield series circuit includes a transfer relay having first and second sides, and a primary regulator operatively coupled to an airfield series loop of an airfield at the first side of the transfer relay. A standby regulator is operatively coupled to the airfield series circuit at the second side of the transfer relay. The transfer relay is movable between a primary mode of operation whereby the first side of the transfer relay closed directing lighting power to the airfield series loop from the primary regulator and the second side of the transfer relay open isolating the standby regulator from the airfield series circuit, and a standby mode of operating whereby the second side of the transfer relay closed directing lighting power to the airfield series loop from the standby regulator and the first side of the transfer relay open isolating the primary regulator from the airfield series circuit.

Airport Light Base Installation With Non-Conductive Isolation Transformer Support

US Patent:
2006023, Oct 19, 2006
Filed:
Apr 15, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/106940
Inventors:
Roger Bieberdorf - Mesa AZ, US
International Classification:
E01F 9/016, F21V 21/02
US Classification:
362153100, 362364000
Abstract:
An airport light base container includes a continuous sidewall having an upper extremity with a light fixture assembly affixed thereto and a lower extremity with a bottom plate affixed thereto, in which there is a space in the light base container between the light fixture assembly and the bottom plate. A non-conductive support disposed in the space and is supported by the bottom plate. The non-conductive support has a non-conductive support surface disposed at an elevated location relative to the bottom plate. An isolation transformer is disposed in the space and is positioned on the non-conductive support surface of the non-conductive support and is electrically coupled to the light fixture assembly. The non-conductive support conductively isolates the isolation transformer from the bottom plate and maintains the isolation transformer at an elevated location relative to the bottom plate.
