Diffuser For Color Analyzer

US Patent:
4853744, Aug 1, 1989
Filed:
Jun 29, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/213130
Inventors:
Roger G. Reed - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
G03B 2780
US Classification:
355 38
Abstract:
There is disclosed herein a diffusing device for use with photographic darkroom color analyzers when no gray card appears in any of the frames on the strip of film which have the same lighting conditions as the frame to be analyzed. The diffuser is used for determining correct color balance of an area of film which is mottled, such as human skin, by eliminating moles, freckles, dark shadows etc. from the image being analyzed with light blockers. The diffuser is made of flat translucent material in a plurality of shapes. Supports hold it above the analyzer sensor. The invention includes a variety of light blockers of various shapes made of opaque material such as sheet metal, all light blockers having the same area. A diffuser of an appropriate shape is placed within the projected image to be analyzed and moved around until it is within an area of flesh selected to be analyzed. If there is a small area of the selected area that should not be included in the analysis, such as a mole, freckle or dark shawow, then one or more light blockers of appropriate shapes are selected to be placed on top of the diffuser to block the undesired small area of light from the analyzer sensor.

Christmas Tree Stand Adapter Ring

US Patent:
2009019, Aug 13, 2009
Filed:
Feb 7, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/027372
Inventors:
Roger Glenn Reed - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
A47G 33/12
US Classification:
47 405
Abstract:
A typical Christmas tree stand has legs made of stamped metal with thumbscrews threaded through the stamped metal, which provides almost no resistance to lateral movement of the thumbscrews. The rotational action of tightening the thumbscrews actually causes the tree trunk to rotate about its axis thus twisting the thumbscrews laterally and loosening the contact of the thumbscrews with the tree trunk thus allowing the tree to lean or fall over. The present invention is a Christmas tree stand adapter ring, hereinafter referred to as adapter ring, having unthreaded screw holes arranged radially to coincide with thumbscrews in the legs and collar of a typical Christmas tree stand. The adapter ring is positioned inside the collar of the typical Christmas tree stand in an orientation that allows the thumbscrews of the Christmas tree stand to pass through the adapter ring and make contact with the Christmas tree trunk. The adapter ring holds the screws in alignment with the center of the tree trunk and prevents lateral movement of the screws, thus holding the tree firmly in a vertical position.

Slide Calculator For Photographic Lighting

US Patent:
4772780, Sep 20, 1988
Filed:
Mar 18, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/027606
Inventors:
Muriel A. Reed - Indianapolis IN
Roger G. Reed - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
G06C 300
US Classification:
235 647
Abstract:
The object of the invention is to provide a slide calculator to make the determination of flash-to-subject working distances (WD) easy and accurate for amateur and professional photographers. Light sources other than flash can be used. The calculator uses known factors such as lens f-stop, film speed, light ratio, flash guide number (GN), flash power setting and filter exposure factors to determine working distances even when using multiple flashes simultaneously. The indicia on the slides and the indicia adjacent the appropriate windows on the panels are arranged in a predetermined manner and relationship to each other to permit the desired working distance to be determined accurately. Working distances for several flashes (each flash having a different purpose) can be determined and their affect on each other is compensated for in the calculations. Then the several flashes can be used in combination to achieve a desired lighting effect with correct exposure.

Apparatus For Determining Prescription For Prism Lenses For Diplopic Patients

US Patent:
8136946, Mar 20, 2012
Filed:
Sep 12, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/229831
Inventors:
Roger Glenn Reed - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
A61B 3/04, A61B 3/10, A61B 3/02
US Classification:
351229, 351205, 351222, 351227
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for finding and defining a prescription for prism glasses for Diplopic patients and AMD patients whose Macula and Fovea are damaged enough that the patients have double vision, but, still have relatively good acuity. The apparatus positions lenses in infinitely variable locations horizontally and vertically in front of the patient's eyes until the patient indicates that he/she sees the two images fuse. The H-V coordinates of the location of the Optic center of each lens axis in relation to the patient's visual axis are decentration dimensions indicated for each eye by the H and V dials on the apparatus and are thus the basis for an accurate prescription for prism lenses.

Slide Calculator For Background Lighting

US Patent:
4785164, Nov 15, 1988
Filed:
Jul 13, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/073166
Inventors:
Muriel A. Reed - Indianapolis IN
Roger G. Reed - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
G06C 300
US Classification:
235 647
Abstract:
There is disclosed herein a slide calculator for determination of flash-to-background distance for studio photography when using color filters over the flash. By use of the calculator, known factors, such as lens f-stop, film speed, flash guide number (GN), background density (darkness), desired degree of color (including shades of gray and white) saturation of said background and filter exposure factors can be used to determine the working distance of a background-flash with a color filter over the flash. An electronic flash meter is not required. The calculator includes a front panel with a window-like aperture and a back panel. Two slide members are positioned and movable between the front and back panels. Indicia is provided on the front panel and is generally arranged adjacent the window like aperture. Indicia is also provided on the slide members and is arranged for exposure at the window.

Apparatus For Determining Prescription For Reading Lenses For Eyes With Mild Amd

US Patent:
8123355, Feb 28, 2012
Filed:
Aug 11, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/854373
Inventors:
Roger Glenn Reed - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
A61B 3/04, A61B 3/10, A61B 3/02
US Classification:
351229, 351205, 351222, 351227
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for finding and defining a prescription for reading glasses for an AMD patient whose Macula and Fovea are damaged enough that the patient has double vision, i. e. the patient sees two images of every object within the field of view of the Macula and Fovea. The apparatus positions reading lenses in various locations in front of the patient's eyes until the patient indicates that he/she now sees one image for each object in the field of view of the Macula and Fovea. The X-Y coordinates of the location of each lens axis in relation to the patient's visual axis are offset dimensions indicated for each eye by the apparatus and is thus the prescription for reading lenses.

Normal And Emergency Combination Light Switch

US Patent:
7060918, Jun 13, 2006
Filed:
Jan 21, 2005
Appl. No.:
10/905828
Inventors:
Roger Glenn Reed - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
H01H 9/26
US Classification:
200 5032, 200331, 200334
Abstract:
A standard 2-gang wallbox-mountable light switch assembly comprising two switches for controlling electrical power from two separate circuits, one normal and one emergency power, to two separate lighting loads is disclosed. The assembly comprises two toggle switches, a yoke common to both switches and an axle common to both toggle switches for operating in unison both toggle switches. A single handle is provided that is integral to the axle and extends through the yoke for manual grasping for switching on-off. A partition creates a barrier between the electrical components of the two toggle switches when mounted within a standard 2-gang wallbox. Separation of normal and emergency circuits is a requirement of the National Electric Code (NEC) 700. 9 (B).
