Aside from his busy Oakland practice, he has treated numerous professional athletes, and is a full-time consultant to the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado., He has published more than 120 scientific journal articles, 70 book chapters, and is the co-author of the most widely used orthopaedic textbook on foot and ankle surgery, entitled, "Surgery of the Foot and Ankle," which is now entering its eighth edition., He was the past president of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). The society has even named an annual award for their Outstanding Clinical Paper after Dr. Mann, "The Roger A. Mann Award."
